Anyone having problems with their hips hurting at night? I don't know if it's common, or if my body is just getting used to sleeping on my side and not my back. I was awake almost 2 hrs last night with lots of pain.
There is a lot on this if you use the search function. it's normal and happens a lot try new positions and pregnancy pillow. this is also a good post the January randoms thread.
Your body is also producing relaxin, which relaxes the ligaments in the pelvis (prep for baby and childbirth) which may be causing some discomfort. It's normal, yay pregnancy!
So I didn't think I could contribute much to this, but after listening to my pregnancy podcast try were talking about SPD which is hip pain that is supposedly horrible pain (they say almost crying pain). If it's that bad I would bring it up to your dr/midwife.
I had SPD with my son, thats why I ended up with a csection. I had pain during night, pillow between legs/knees while laying on side helped. Sometimes i would be walking and my pelvis/hip would slip a little, imagine quick shock of pain. Google it, i havnt had issues yet with this preg, maybe I wont get it this time granted its been 4 yrs since I had my first... Keep us posted
Eeek, all I can say is if you think its bad now.... wait about 20 more weeks .
In all seriousness, body pillows, or any pillow really, do wonders. I started sleeping with a pillow between my legs when I was pregnant with DS and have never kicked the habit. It'll help even out and realign your hips!

I've been researching this a bit today since I'm getting lower back pain and hip pain, which I attribute to sleeping and tossing/turning. I always wake up on my back in the night after sleeping with a pillow between my knees and on my left side. Looking into a good pregnancy pillow, any recommendations for those who have used / own them??
I've been having hip pain while sleeping (our previously comfy bed suddenly feels like a rock) so I moved the memory foam pad from our guest room pullout sofa to our bed... amazing. I'll prob get a body pillow eventually (friends have suggested the snoogle) but for now, memory foam pad from Costco for the win!
Also, my dog loves sleeping on my side of the bed and doesn't seem to know/care/appreciate that I'm pregnant, but he's going to have to learn quickly he's not welcome for the next 6 months! Sorry buddy!
For lower back pain, going to yoga has been helping a lot. I didn't go over the holidays and it was definitely worse.

Try a body pillow and also exercise...when I was walking a lot my last pregnancy it didn't hurt as much.
