anyone use cetrotide or pregnyl before?

Just trying to prepare myself..I start my menopur tonight but have used that before.  When I looked in the boxes of cetrotide i know you have to mix it but it looks different than the menopur.  Also the pregnyl says intramuscular so does that mean butt?? Does it hurt? I know the dr will explain it all as it comes but just trying to get any info now that I can..Thanks

The intramuscular shots weren't too bad for me when we iced the area for 5 min prior, in fact I didn't feel anything.

  • I did Cetrotide during my ER cycle. It was... unpleasant, though at the time I started it I'd been getting shots in my tummy for like 12 days. I remember it being more painful than Menopur. Hopefully yours isn't too bad!

  • @rachlee2010 I have done pregnyl as a trigger shot twice. It was in the butt My doctors office did it for me. The first time it was totally fine! The second time it was not pleasant. It felt thick and peanut buttery going in and was sore for days...

Granted the nurse could have just messed it up the second d time. Fx for you!
  • I did Pregnyl at home. I did not feel the shot. The nurse said there are two needles, one is for mixing, the other is for injecting. The mixing one is huge while the injecting needle is much smaller.

  • Cetrotide can cause a small localized reaction, like a bug bite or small rash, which is common. You might want to use some ice after the injection.

But it mixes the same as menopur. My doctor had me mix them into the same shot. I definitely prefer using the q-caps rather than a needle to mix it.

  • How big can the reaction be @KLake42 ?

I def have a raised bug bite like blotch on my stomach that's maybe 2ish inches long. Slightly itchy but nothing horrendous. Do you know how long it lasts? I have to do another cetrotide shot in the morning

I also used a q cap instead of the needle
  • @rachlee2010, for me, the welt went down by morning, but the area remained sensitive. Make sure you don't inject too close to an old injection site. And ice tonight will help it.

I think my reactions were a couple inches wide.
