1st Trimester

Weird pains.

Today at work around 10 AM I started having this weird pain and my lower abdomen like around my pubic bone it kind of feels like when you hold your bladder for too long but it's like a sharp shooting pain inside my V. I am 11 weeks and 5 days and pregnant with twins I'm just wondering if this is normal or should I be concerned.

Re: Weird pains.

  • Any kind of pains that early in pregnancy I would definitely go get checked out. Even if there's nothing wrong: I constantly found myself at hospital been checked when I was less then 20 weeks. They don't get annoyed at you or anything. Any doubt you have in your mind is worth getting checked out when involving a baby

  • i mean.. it could be something. it could be nothing. it's really hard to say. could maybe be a UTI? could also maybe be RLP? i wouldn't go running to the hospital for every ache & pain, otherwise you'll be there constantly. but if it's concerning to you i would definitely give your doctor/OB a call & ask them to check you out.

    Although every body is different, when I had those pains it was a round ligament pain. Very common yet very annoying.
    I disagree with the other poster about getting any ache or pain checked out at the Dr/hospital.  That's a little excessive and unnecessary.
    Do try to be mindful of calling excessively as a lot of questions can be answered through research, and try not to worry about every little symptom.  Our bodies are actually pretty strong and our babies are well protected.
    Aches, pains, and annoyances are typical of pregnancy and it's easy to get alarmed over what isn't familiar to you.
    To me it sounds like you're fine, but if it continues or you see blood and cramp, you might put a call in to the Dr at that point.

  • Unless it becomes unbearable, please do not go to your doctor for what sounds like RLP or another fun side effect of pregnancy, "lightning crotch." I get weird little sharp pains like this occasionally, and kiddo is doing fine. Everything is growing and shifting, so occasionally nerves get in the way.

  • As my chiropractor said today "Pregnancy is weird. It's like waking up every morning with a different body".

    Weird = Normal in pregnancy!

  • Sounds like good Ole "lightning crotch"....common at any stage of pregnancy due to the fact that your body js growing, stretching etc...especially twins. I agree with PP, most pains and aches are normal and don't warrant medical attention. Obviously, you are the judge of your pain and if it turns into more or there's bleeding, it warrants more attention.

  • I agree with PPs. Sounds like lighting crotch or RLP which are harmless and perfectly natural pregnancy symptoms.
