Re: Thursday Ticker Change 1/14/16

  • Week/Fruit: 22/Papaya  -- Ovia says Guinea Pig

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I feel very good!  I'm very hungry quite often and have been experiencing hip and tailbone pain.  Yesterday, I ran a few miles in the morning and played volleyball at night and my legs and hips were really uncomfortable when I got home.  It felt very similar to growing pains if you've ever had them.

Upcoming appointments: A week from this coming Monday.

Questions for the Group: None today!

GTKY: What baby gear/item are you most looking forward to purchasing/receiving?  Hmmm...  I'm waiting for our new carpet to be installed, then I'm ordering our crib:

23 weeks, grapefruit (though I have never seen one as large as they say)

RRS: my nose is full of bloody boogers every morning and I'm so sick of it!!! Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good aside from my sore knee. The snoogle pillow has really helped with hip pain

Appointments: next is Feb 4... The one hour glucose test!

    ?s: omg I can't make gifs work :s

GTKY: We have been buying larger baby items as I find them on crazy sales... but I am still drooling over the Peg Perego Siesta High Chair

    and the Onya baby carrier

  • Week/Fruit:24 ear of corn/banana split/baseball mitt depending on the source

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I'm feeling lots of thumps from LO-- some hefty enough to visibly bounce my stomach. As one of my students put it, "I'm not trying to be rude, but you're looking very pregnant." Yep, my belly popped out even further seemingly over the weekend. Pregnancy brain and hunger-pangs are striking randomly this week, as well as fatigue. I'm wondering if LO is growing a bunch this week. I've also reached the point where simply bending over isn't an option anymore. It's like trying to bend over a balloon-- I just bounce back up at a certain degree of bending. Lots of squatting is happening both for exercise and for picking things up, putting things down, dressing, etc.

    Upcoming appointments: Next week

Questions for the Group: Anyone else have a baby who is hanging out mostly breech? I need him to turn in order to be able to attempt a VBAC. Last time, DS turned breech at the very end, so there was no turning him. This time, I'm really trying to encourage head-down, but he's not really taking the bait yet.

We're reusing a ton of stuff. I'm probably most excited about adding some new books to our big collection so that this LO has some of his own, and the few new pieces of clothing that I've purchased. When we eventually move, which may be this year or next year, I'll be excited to create a bedroom for this LO and choose art, make curtains, etc. like we did for DS's room. For now, baby will room with DH and me, then with DS once he's sleeping longer stretches at night.
  • Week/Fruit:  21/pomegranate

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I've actually been feeling pretty good this week, so no complaints!

Upcoming appointments:  @EErin86 My next appointment is for my 1 hr. glucose test on 2/4 also.  Not looking forward to it.  I hate having blood drawn because needles freak me out!   :/

Questions for the Group:  Have you made a registry?  If so, where?  We ended up making 3 registries (Walmart, Target, and Babies R Us) because we are having 2 showers in different states, and there isn't a single store with a selection we like and locations in both places.  There is a Walmart in my hometown (shower location #2), but no Target or Babies R Us unless you drive over an hour away.  There is a Target and Babies R Us in DH's hometown (shower location #1), but not a Walmart.  We have all 3 where we live (and where our friends will be shopping, even though we aren't having a shower here), so we decided to do 3 registries and just plan on doing a lot of returns when we inevitably end up with duplicates.

GTKY: What baby gear/item are you most looking forward to purchasing/receiving? The Pack 'N Play, which will be essential since we live on the coast and will need something to put LO in while we're at the beach. I'm planning on getting one like this with the removable sunshade on top.

  • @swflJD that pack and play is awesome!
  • @kbrands7 My baby moves all over, but seems to hang out breech the most.  My last baby was also born breech.  I have a bicornate uterus, so it's more likely to have baby in the breech position.  When is a good time to try baby flipping measures?  At my last ultrasound he switched positions a few times, so I'm not sure if it's pointless right now or not.

@swflJD I've made two registries.  I registered at Amazon and Target.  My hometown and where I'm having the shower doesn't have a Target (there's a Walmart), but mostly everyone will be able to order online or have someone help them order online if they wish to purchase from the registry.

  • @EErin86 Not everywhere carries this particular one, but I found it at Target. It's about $130 there.
  • @js8812 That's my issue too! It's not severe, but just enough that he seems to fit better head up. DS flipped to breech at 38 weeks (it sort of hurt when he did!) and I wasn't able to get him back. They wouldn't try external version because of the uterus shape. This time it seems like he still has enough room to move around freely enough to move often from breech to transverse, to occasionally head down. I'm not sure when the really effective flipping window is, but it feels pointless right now since he seems to just move right back.
  • Week/Fruit: 21/pomegranate

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: BH like crazy, headaches, boobs are growing (that's a rave for me!) tired again all of the sudden?

Upcoming appointments: I've been sitting at my appt for the past 45 mins and still haven't seen the Dr. I'm getting hungry.

    Questions for the Group: n/a

GTKY: What baby gear/item are you most looking forward to purchasing/receiving? I have everything that I need for the most part, however my bday is on Sunday, and I'm wondering if I'll get the double stroller that I've had my eye on.
  • @Kbrands7 I agree.  I'll ask my doctor about it next appointment and report back.
  • Week/Fruit:  20w6d - Banana

Rants/Raves/Symptoms:  Mucho heartburn is not fun.

Upcoming appointments: Well I DID have one scheduled for the 25th but I just found out today (by calling to confirm my appointment) that it was actually CANCELLED by the office and they never felt the need to tell me. I spoke to one of my friends who has my same doctor and apparently he has accepted another job at another hospital. Which is fine... but I would have liked to have been told this. I am very happy that my spidey senses were tingling enough to have me call to confirm my appointment. Now I'm in limbo trying to figure out what to do.  :s

Questions for the Group:  Has anyone had to switch doctors mid pregnancy?

GTKY: What baby gear/item are you most looking forward to purchasing/receiving? I'm looking forward to all the baby books :)

    As well as this one...

  • @sosweet487 I can't believe that they didn't make a courtesy call about that! I've never switched doctors/practices halfway through, but I know it has been done. Sorry that you have to scramble like this!
  • @sosweet487  I switched clinics at 18 weeks and am so happy I did.  My husband and I just weren't getting what we wanted or needed from our original Dr. (first time parents with lots of excitement and questions!) and after my 14 appointment we decided to look around for something that would feel a bit more like "us".  I am sooooo happy we did.  We are in love with the clinic we now going to and the transition was pretty seamless- just had our records sent over.  If you're feeling iffy about your Dr. I would definitely recommend finding a place that feels right.  As soon-to-be mommies the care we receive and the trust we have in our caregiver is immeasurably important.

  • @sosweet487 Ugh, that is so rude.  Good thing you called!  As for that book... so funny!  I've been wanting to buy it for various friends and I'm 90% sure they would find it as hilarious as I do, but that 10% chance of them being offended by it has prevented me from buying it.
