Lunar New Year- year of the Monkey babies lifeline fortunes

Since I work a lot with Asian offices, they always send us "fortune" books for the new year. Here are the life fortunes for our lil "monkeys" along with naming tips.

  • Ugh, I forgot it was the year of the monkey. My ILs are Chinese, and MIL is really into this stuff. I don't like monkeys, which sucks because I'm going to end up with a lot of monkey figurines!!!!! :s
  • Aw these things make me smile :)

LOL that's the worst part. DD was a snake, so I already have the damn crystal snakes sitting on my mantle!
  • This is fun, thanks for sharing!  I totally thought about how my crib was facing (North!), haha.

  • "The Monkey's Traits: Sharp, Smart...

People born in a year of the Monkey are witty, intelligent, and have a magnetic personality. Personality traits, like mischievousness, curiosity, and cleverness, make them very naughty. Monkeys are masters of practical jokes, because they like playing most of the time. Though they don't have any bad intentions, their pranks sometimes hurt the feelings of others. Monkeys are fast learners and crafty opportunists.

They have many interests and need partners who are capable of stimulating them. While some like the eccentric nature of Monkeys, some don't trust their sly, restless, and inquisitive nature. Although they are clever and creative, monkeys can't always exhibit their talent properly. Monkeys like to take challenges and they prefer urban life to rural."

    I like it!!
  • Sounds like a good year! DD#1 and I were both born in the year of the pig and she's soooooo much like me. It will be interesting to see if DD#2 will take after the traits associated with the year of the monkey.
  • monkeys creep me out bad, but there is nothing worse than a snake.
  • "They should go by names of Metal or Water nature."

Guess I need to change my baby's name to Slayer :)

  • I didn't know this, but my nursery is a jungle theme with girl monkies! I found an adorable bed set with monkies and giraffes in pink bows and I'm having my sister do a tree of life mural :) what a coincidence
  • I am Asian and my parents were super happy that our son is being born into the year of the monkey. They're known as smart :) but yes, I'm already getting monkey figurines too LOL

Plus, DH's nickname from his dad was monkey because his dad thought he was born in the year of the monkey (he's really a sheep). So DH is really glad his son is going to be....we have lots of monkies on the clothes because of DH lol.
  • My husband recently informed me the baby would be born in the year of the red monkey.  My son and I were both born in May and during rooster years.

  • We are all different in my house. DH was born in the year of the Horse which makes me side eye him, DD is a (water) snake, I'm an ox, and DD2 is a monkey. At least DD1 and I are compatible :/

I second the ugh.  Step-MIL is Chinese.  We will also probably have monkey all over the place.  Why couldn't it be the year of something less cutesy?  (Of course, DS is a snake baby and that didn't stop her from giving us a creepy snake statue...)

  • Oh no! I am a snake and app not compatible with my monkey baby... Luckily my rat husband is... Gutted!!!!
  • Im also a Monkey . . . The bad part? Your year is bad luck to you. So basically I am warned to watch out for my health and other various things this year. Apparently I must wear a red item or an item with Jade that is purchased for me to ward off the bad juju from Tai Sui. I'm actually quite happy to have a monkey baby though  :)
  • Love all of this, I didn't realize it was a monkey year til I saw it on a gift card at Starbucks lol!

How do you know compatibility? I'm a rabbit. I think DH is a boar.

@angc4 I just did a Google search really something lame like snake mother monkey baby compatibility!!!
The website had lots of charts but was a basic count from you to the fifth animal if compatible and to the fourth for not.
So you only have a chance of two not being compatible! As I said luckily hubby is good so could be worse!

This helps: "Essentially, the compatibility of a family can be as greatly influenced by its astrological makeup as by its learned behaviors and responses. For this reason, it is vital for every zodiac animal to work toward achieving his personal balance, which, in turn, will ultimately affect the balance of his family and community."

Husband now told me to stop reading about it!! Haha, I do tend to take things a bit far :-)
  • This is super interesting! From those place-mats at the local Chinese food restaurant (so authentic, I know!) we always assumed that MH was a snake and I was a dragon. However, since MH was born in early February, he is actually a dragon as well!

Basically our family is as follows (and please correct me if I am wrong...just learning, but find it really cool!)
    MH - Yang Fire Dragon
    Me - Yang Earth Dragon
My son - Yin Water Snake
Baby girl - Yang Fire Monkey

Now to find out what that means for compatibility!

  • Thanks for sharing-so fun!!
  • Already loving my chunky monkey! I read that the monkey is looking up to the dragon, my husband. But not the tiger (me), he thinks he's smarter. I can already see my son rolling his eyes at mum!
