Hi everyone! I'm just wondering how accurate are pregnancy test on the day of a missed period?  I took a test on the night of cycle day 28 and it was negative..but now I'm on cycle day 31 and still no period - I've tried google but can't seem to find much info.  I plan on taking a test..but wondering if I'm still "in the game" for this month.  I took a Dollar General one step test (rectangular one with dropper) but aren't those test supposed to be just as good as any other test?  Thanks in advance for your answers!

It depends on the brand... here's a chart that can help:
    https://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/When-can-I-expect-a-positive-HPT-if-I-am-pregnant.html

Also, according to Google Dollar General is a 20miu test, so pretty accurate/early.

Are you temping/charting? If it comes up negative you likely ovulated later than you think. Around here the motto is "you're regular until you're not!"

  • It should say in the instructions. Also, temp. You might not actually be "late".

No I haven't been temping or charting - I had a chemical pregnancylast April and I'm just now starting to get back "into the game" lol.  I am just trying to let whatever happens happen for a few months and then get into the full swing of things.  Thanks for that chart though, really puts it into perspective! IDK how that didn't show up in my research!
  • Very. If it's actually the first day of when you are supposed to start. You only know that through temping or ultrasound's to pinpoint ovulation.

I'm sorry for your loss. I highly recommend temping because it takes out all of the guess work. Best of luck to you!
