Inconclusive Results on Progenity Test

I did the progenity test at 10 weeks 4 days and today at 12 weeks 4 days the nurse called and said the results were insufficient. Has anyone had this happen to them? What was your outcome if this has happened to you before? I had my blood re-drawn to test again so hopefully we will get some good news soon. When the nurse called to tell me what had happened she said she had never seen this before...

Re: Inconclusive Results on Progenity Test

  • No personal experience, but it may have just been a lab error. Wait for your next set of results and go from there.
    Good luck!

  • Have you had an ultrasound yet? Because at 12 weeks, it seems like they could just do one and verify the pregnancy that way.

  • I declined the genetic screening test, but no matter what results do come back as with your second draw just remember that it is a screening and not a diagnostic test.

  • I have had multiple ultrasounds due to prior miscarriages. The last ultrasound was at 9 weeks 4 days.
  • I got the progenity Verifi test. But at 13w4d and results came back in one week. Maybe 10w4d was too early to have enough fetal DNA. I think 12w4d should be sufficient time for you to have enough fetal DNA. Good luck!
  • Oh, sorry. I read this as "pregnancy" test. My bad. Ignore me.

  • I've never heard of this but from her wording, I also wonder if there was a problem with the blood draw or the lab. It sounds a bit like it was their error, Not yours. I also thought that test was meant to be done between 11-14 weeks so possibly a bit too early??
  • Officially, they can draw the labs at 9 weeks. However, 9 weeks may be to early in some women.
All it means is that there is not enough fetal DNA sample in YOUR blood yet. It happened to me. It is not an 'error' and what not, it is just too early.
Like pregnancy tests, some people can turn at positive pregnancy test at 8 or 9 dpo (4 days before expected period), while others get a negative until their period is late. Are they more 'pregnant', nope. Just higher levels.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I was told that this is NOT a cause for concern. That when this happens it's due to an insufficient amount of DNA present in the blood, and that the lab just needs a new draw. It could be because dating is off, or many other reasons. I'm sure the second result will be able to provide answers.
