Info on Diastasis Recti

Hi. I am 7 weeks pp and have noticed that I still look noticeably about three months pregnant. I have another 15 lbs to reach my pre pregnancy weight and I was fit and active before pregnancy. I thought this was due to having a second c section but during a check up with my dr he stated that I have diastasis recti ( separation of abdominal wall) he didnt tell me the severity ( it can be measured by fingertips) but I believe the separation is about 2-3. I have an apt with a physical therapist but was wondering if anyone has had any luck with certain exercises or wrapping the stomach. thanks!

  • Idk if it's true or not but I heard if you bend over and suck your belly in as hard as you can a few times a day it can help.

  • If you already have an appointment with a physical therapist, I'd wait to see what they say. It can be easy to make worse if you're not exercising properly!
    There are a lot of videos on YouTube also showing proper ways to exercise to heal a diastasis recti, if you really want to see some ideas. (Or if others who don't have a physical therapy appointment want a place to start).
  • I have this and have been to a physical therapist. when I get home I will take a picture and post it here to show you what exercise she showed me. My brain hurts too much to try and explain it in my own words lol.
