Food Aversions and Groceries, Help!!

I have such extreme food aversions that I can't cook for my hubby anymore. The idea of chicken is nauseating and don't even get me started on ham. Does anyone have any ideas for healthy food recipes that I can make that won't make me throw up everytime I start cooking?

  • is it only chicken & ham that you have extreme aversions to? or are there other things as well?

  • Chicken was my biggest aversion with my first pregnancy.

  • My aversions changed from week to week (sometimes day to day....) so I ended up with a lot of meat in my freezer that I would buy and couldn't stomach before it was going to go bad- so I would freeze it.

I did find that if H cooked, I could generally eat stuff. For me, it was often the actual cooking part that was hard (the smell/texture of raw meat was awful for me). I ate a lot of carbs and sort of bland food- I find ham is a lot for me to stomach NOT pregnant, I can't imagine during the first tri.
  • How does the smell of Vick's bother you? EMT trick is to use a dab of Vick's under your nose to help block out the smells that bother you. That way you can still prepare foods your SO likes without experiencing overwhelming nausea.
  • It is mainly ham and chicken that I have aversions to. At least as of now lol
  • Last time I enlisted DH to cut and cook the foods I really couldn't handle. I will admit I also bought more pre-made foods than normal, just so I could throw things in the oven and not actually have to deal with them :(

For most people, the food aversions die off after 12-14 weeks so I try to go easy on myself since in the grand scheme of things it's not that long. For example, tonight I'm making protein waffles with berries and whipped cream. We were supposed to have fish tacos... But no, there is no way that's happening. I usually go off green veg in general but I'm ok with fruit so for the next eight weeks, I'll be taking my vitamins and eating what I can.
  • @0SeaMonkey0 what's in your protein waffle batter? Sounds delish!
  • Time to recruit the hubby into the kitchen. I couldn't go into the kitchen, open the fridge, or cook anything for several weeks. Occasionally, if I was feeling "awesome" I could step into the kitchen to make some quick toast or grab something. But cook.....nope. A lot of times, my husband would have to cook the food, and then I would eat it downstairs or in the living room, where the smell was not as strong. I would still eat the food, I just couldn't deal with the preparing and cooking part.
