How to spend the last few days before baby?

Officially on maternity leave from work! My induction is scheduled for a week from tomorrow if I don't go into labor naturally by then (and it's not looking like I will, but who knows!).  Everything on my baby to-do list is done.  Freezer meals are made, house is clean, baby room is organized, car seat has been inspected.  If some of you have already finished your baby to-do list and are on maternity leave, how are you spending those last few days before baby?  FTM here so the house is quiet and dh is at work all day.  I don't really want to waste the day lying around watching Netflix, although I have been sleeping in quite a bit.  It's currently 20 degrees outside, so walking is mostly out.  I feel like this is precious time before baby and I don't want to waste it!

  • I'd say do whatever you want to! Now seems like the perfect time for resting, which will help with labour. Maybe you could meet friends for coffee (or non caffeinated drink of choice), or read a book that's been on your to-read list for ages.

Personally I'm still working through my to-do list but since I can only do so much at a time, a lot of my spare time is filled with Netflix, gaming, crafting and I'm actually enjoying jigsaw puzzles.

  • Sleep in. Treat yourself to a massage or pedicure. Read a book. Something you won't get to do a lot of once little one arrives
  • Girl. Lay around, watch Netflix, and sleep if that's what you want to do. Other things I suggest include getting a mani pedi, walking around Target and appreciating how easy it is to leave your house any time you please with ease, and going on one last date with DH.
  • I agree with other pps. Relax. Treat your self and don't feel guilty!! This was baby #2 for me and I relaxed for about a week before I ended up going into labor. It was over my daughter's christmas break so it was nice to just have quality time with her too.
  • I am in the same boat as you are. I have enjoyed making phone calls to friends/family I don't see often, since I know I won't have time for a good long chat with them for at least a while after the baby is born. Of course everyone will want to know how you're feeling and all, but it's nice to catch up with people you love before the big day!
  • Pamper yourself. Go get a pedicure, get your hair cut if you need it, it is hard to get out and do stuff like that with a newborn, especially if you are nursing. And do some laying around watching Netflix too!
  • Sleep as much as possible! I know everyone kept telling me this and I had planned to once I was on maternity leave but baby decided to arrive 2 weeks early so I never got to rest..now that she's here and I'm nursing I don't get any legitimate sleep, so enjoy it while you can!
  • I'm a FTM but my good friend told me the one thing she regretted not doing was laying around and watching netflix while she waited for her first to arrive! Be lazy!

  • I have been married for over 3 years and always wanted to do those family photo albums like through shutter fly and never got around to it. I spent my time working on one of those for each year and it took several days, but it was a fun and relaxing project that made me feel productive without even getting out of bed.

Thanks for the reminder! I've been wanting to put a few of these together too! Now I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!
