After my anatomy scan last week they took my blood for the quad screen. The only reason I didn't decline was because my son was born with some heart defects (he is otherwise a healthy almost 2 year old) that we didn't know about until he was born and had we known, we could have been better prepared. My OB just called and told me based on the blood work that the chances of Down syndrome went from I in 10,000 based on my age to 1 in 80. I have to go back today for the Harmony blood work. She told me not to stress because her measurements all looked good on the scan and the odds are in our favor, but I can't help it.
I know there are lots of false positives with this test but I still can't help but think the very worse. I'm sitting in my car at work trying to calm myself down and remind myself that she will be loved no matter what. Just looking for some support from my June moms. I know many of you have been through this.
April Sig Challenge: Why my kid is crying

Re: Positive quad screen
On the other hand, if your baby does happen to fall into the 1.25%, saying your baby will be loved no matter what is a wonderful attitude.
Hang in there, mama. Hugs.
When did she say you would get the Harmony test results back?

As pp said, without any corresponding issues noted in the NT scan, the odds your OB gave you are lower than they seem. (Why on earth they say 1 in 80 I will never know, it's the worst way to phrase that statistic!)
I got a call at 4:45pm yesterday that my second trimester bloodwork for the sequential prenatal screening came back "screen positive" for Down with a 1 in 170 chance (cutoff is 1 in 200). I have the followup ultrasound tomorrow and will be getting blood drawn for NIPT (not sure which brand they use, Harmony or one of the others). I know my numbers are less scary than yours, but I'm waiting it out along with you, so PM me if you want to chat. I was up late last night not sleeping and Googling things I probably shouldn't be Googling.
The odds are very much in your favor, especially with nothing showing up on the anatomy scan. Hopefully the Harmony results will come back fast.
Oh boy, can I relate to you on this one. I think the best way I can make you feel better is to tell you that my odds were 1 in 6. It was TERRIFYING. I went from 1 in 350 (based on my age being 35) to 1 in 6. My midwife called me and made me leave work and she came to my house to tell me. She was very somber and prepared me for the worst. It was awful. But everything was totally fine.
I know there is always the chance of being "the one" in whatever number - but that chance is still SO slim. My panorama test results came back perfectly fine and my odds are now less than 1 in 10000.
I sort of hate this testing- despite understanding that it IS there to help. I am thinking of you and have my fx. I honestly think everything will turn out a-ok. Creepy stranger hugs for you!

@mkemommy it takes 10 long days. I'm assuming business days.
@vulpini I'm sorry you're going through this too. I don't think the numbers really matter, high or low, when you get a phone call like that. All you can think of is the chance that something may be wrong. Let me know your results when you get them! Sending prayers.
@CourtJack I remember you posting about the midwife coming and telling you that. I told you they were still good odds, so I need to listen to my own words. I'm so glad everything came back good for y'all! And how nice to know that your chance is even less than most everybody else's!
I got the results back today and they are negative (1 in 10,000 chance of Down sundrome) and confirmed baby is a boy.
I hope you get yours back soon if you haven't already and that everything is ok.

Fingers crossed that everything comes back okay!!
