Baby Z has arrived!

My little Zachary made his appearance 1/10/16, exactly on his due date! 8lbs 3oz and 21" long, he was the same measurements as me when I was born

I started having contractions 15 min apart on Friday afternoon, which continued well into Saturday. Saturday afternoon we went for an NST, because I felt a significant decrease in movement - this little guy was a mover and shaker on the inside! Everything turned out fine so we went home. About 2 hours later I lost my plug and contractions started coming every 10 minutes, and by 930 that night they were 5 minutes apart. We got to L&D around 1130 and quickly went from 2-5 cm dilated.

I was strep B positive, and had to have the required antibiotics, so while the IV was hooked up I opted for a mild pain reliever to take the edge off. It actually zonked me out for a couple hours, and ended up stalling further dilation so around 9:00am the doc broke my water to try and progress things further.

By 1030 I was dilated to 8 and doc realized babe was anterior facing. I had to all but hop up and down on one foot to get him to turn over, but as soon as he did I went right to 10 cm and it was time! I pushed for about an hour and ½ and finally delivered the most perfect little man I've ever laid eyes on.

I forewent the epidural, mostly because it scared me, and I was so near delirious that I'm trusting all this timing information coming from DH. It was such an incredible and humbling experience. I certainly wouldn't have been able to do it without him, and now I have two amazing men, big and little, to love.
