Grrr AF came...what next?

I thought we may have had luck in December but nope, AF came and 2015 wasn't my year to get pregnant. We have been trying for some time now so when would it be best to talk to my OBGYN? Or what steps would we take first? I'll be 36 this year and want to try everything we can as soon as possible for the best outcome. Thanks!

Also - where can I find the list of what all the acronyms mean? I'm still getting used to everything!

Hi. I'm pretty new here, so I am not sure if this is your first post or not. If it is, welcome to the board. There is a welcome post (that is right above this one for now), which has the acronyms and some other helpful info.

As far as what to do next, first I'd need some insight into what you have been doing. How long have you been trying? What are you doing to figure out your cycle (OPKs, temping, just trying throughout the month)? Usually doctors will talk to you after a year of trying.

Hi there.. once you are 35, the waiting game of trying to be recommended to an RE usually goes to 6 months instead of the typical year of trying.  I'd definitely set up an appointment with your OBGYN to be referred to an RE, if you need referrals.  If not, I'd do research on good REs in your area. The RE has a much larger arsenal of things to try to get you pregnant than an OBGYN would have.  Good luck!

@aim22I was in the same boat in Dec…. it was my last month to get pregnant ‘naturally’ as we had already decided to start with IVF in the new year. I’m now a few days into the IVF process and couldn’t be happier with the decision. Everyone takes a different path – we tried Clomid for a few months but decided to bypass IUI. I would talk with your OBGYN and get with a specialist sooner than later (it took me a few months just to get the first appt)
