Are you still exercising?

Just curious who has been able to stay active. I had to stop running but I'm walking 3-4 miles 4 days a week, doing work with my resistance band, and some yoga. Baby gets very worked up when I walk- moving around like crazy. I'm someone who gets stir crazy if I'm not active but I'm also so tired these days I just want to sleep most of the time.

Re: Are you still exercising?

  • Hahaha......I do yoga every now and then when my back hurts.

  • Well done for keeping up with yoga and walking! I stopped running at 24 weeks, I was walking for a long time afterwards but now at 38 weeks my activity consists of walking round the store and doing housework. Walking further than the hour round the grocery store gives me so much back and belly pain, and I get dizzy.

If it counts, I have to climb a flight of stairs to the bathroom which I'm doing every half hour!
  • I stopped running a month ago, at 33 weeks. . . .now i'm just trying to walk as much as possible.  I get made fun of for parking at the far end of the lot at work.  I take the dog on lots of long walks too. . .. trying to stay active while I can!
  • I am! I've kept up with spin classes but am thinking of reducing frequency this week (I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow). I generally do that 3-4 times a week and then a little strength training 2-3 days. My intensity is way, way reduced but I find that doing some exercise actually makes me feel better. I have more soreness and stuff on my days off weirdly. I've also hit kind of an intense wall of sleepiness lately though, so I'm thinking this is all going to start to taper off.
  • Feb lurker, only 36 weeks but still jogging (about as quickly as a turtle trudging through peanut butter) 2-3 miles 2-3 days/week and doing a 35 minute Body Pump 2-3 days/week. I'm really hoping to keep it up 2 more weeks (registered for a 5k at 38 wks) then depending on how I'm feeling I may just cut down to some walking.
  • Trying to continue walking every day (but it's hard now, because the weather is so crappy) and I take the stairs instead of the elevator at work.  I've been doing a few sets of squats every day and do some really light weight lifting to keep my arms toned.

I stopped running at 36 weeks, even with the support band it was too uncomfortable. I'm 38 weeks now and still walking 30 minutes 3-4 times/week. And DS1 is 2.5 years old, so I'm somewhat active throughout the day with him.

  • I am walking, stretching and still working (dance/cheer and gymnastics teacher) so I am still staying pretty active for 39 wks, but not actual "workouts" like I had been doing up until 36/37 wks.

  • I did classes at the gym (but low impact) until about a week ago mixed with swimming. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. However I am a part time group exercise instructor so used to exercise a lot to high intensity. I have now switched to Aqua classes and swimming most days. Can no longer walk far due to pelvic pain but the pool is amazing.
  • Stopped running early on (can't WAIT to get back to it) and have resorted to walking as much as possible.
The weight and position on my bladder makes it very very challenging, however.
I try to walk to pick my daughter up from school on fairweathered days (40min round trip) ...
Admittedly I am nowhere near as active as I had hoped to be.
  • I stopped running at 2 months haha. From week 36 to the night before labor I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill, did light hand weights, stretching and bouncing and hip circles on my exercise ball. I think the walking helped and going to the gym kept me sane.
  • I stopped running when I was six months pregnant with my last kid, that was nearly 3 years ago!

I wish I had more time to get in a real work out but my life is super chaotic right now. Luckily I live in a city and walk most every place we go.
  • I got off the couch by myself today... So there's that.... Honestly the most exercise I have gotten in months...
  • Motivating to see ladies who are still working out! Meanwhile all my friends are #riseandgrind #newyearnewme and I'm like #justgetthisbabyoutofme

  • Ha, no. Walking to the bathroom at work and back is about as much exercise as I get.

  • I went right up until the end, though I obviously went easier and easier. Last light strength training was Wednesday at 40+2. Last hike with the dogs was when I was in early labor on Saturday trying to move things along. Also did a lot of squats and lunges in early labor. My water broke but labor was light so we were working against the clock to avoid augmentation.
  • Lol bed rest with short intervals of walking allowed from 4 months on.... I'm gonna have a time going from mushy couch potato back to farm hand. Great to hear that you ladies were able to stay active ! Hip dysplasia sucks
  • I'm still doing yoga twice a week, as well as dog walks and walking to and from the metro for work, but walking is getting more painful by the day, so I'm cutting back a lot
  • I walk 10 min each way from the garage to my office, have stairs in my house, and chase after my 3 year old. That's as good as it's getting now. I stopped running at 24 weeks and am looking forward to getting back into it soon!

  • Stopped running at 35 weeks now currently 37 weeks and working out 5 days a week on the eliptical for 25 min equivalent to 2 miles. I am also lurking from the Feb board. Due Feb 4th
  • I just walk as much as possible. It's cold here but I have my husband take me to the mall & I walk as much as I can. It's leisure but it's something. I try to stay busy.
  • I'm 39 weeks & still going to a 75 min prenatal yoga class three times a week, walking, doing squats and my usual activities of running errands, cooking & cleaning. So far I am still feeling good & have the energy. Planning to stay active all the way into early labor.
  • Was walking until about week 34/35, when my sciatic nerve pain started.  Now all I can do is yoga stretches and kegels, which I do at least once a day, generally aim for 3x a day.  I'm hoping, as my sciatic pain increases, to incorporate some light arm weights for toning, maybe even starting this week.

I seriously cannot wait to be recovered and get back to the gym!  It does such wonders for my mood.  Missing working out like crazy.  :/
