Yeah, I had high BP through my entire first pregnancy and postpardum in 2013. I ended up on a BP medication which kept it pretty much under control and was monitoring at home throughout. Since then, I've been monitoring my BP at home and its really helped me to track it and know whats going on.
With this pregnancy as well, EVERY time I'm at the doctor, it's high, and my doc and I have determined that I definitely have a form of "white coat" syndrome where its high when I'm nervous & at the doctor. So now I even take a measurement right before I leave to go to the doctor, just to have a comparison to share with her.
My doc still thinks I will likely have to go back on medication as the pregnancy progresses because even though my issues seem to be mostly white-coat related, that can be an indicator of overall high BP and it tends to rise in pregnancy anyway.
So my suggestion would be to see if it continues to be high at the doctor and if so, I'd recommend getting a cuff to measure at home. Hope that helps.

I have high blood pressure normally and had it my whole pregnancy with my son and it was higher than it should be a my u/s appointment last week. I am on labetelol twice daily and have to do 24 he urine test twice like I did last pregnancy. They also made me do twice weekly non stress test starting at 36 weeks last time and will with this one too. It is usually higher when I am at the Drs normally because I get nervous but I would rather be safe than sorry. Hope you figure yours out it can be extremely dangerous if it gets out of control.
I have a question, @daniellejPDX and @jle1021! I had high BP with my first pregnancy, starting at like 34/35 weeks. At 37 weeks they put me on bed rest, then I ended up being induced because of it at 38 weeks. I've never had BP problems otherwise. I'm so worried im going to have problems again this time, and am extra worried about getting put on bed rest, especially if it starts earlier this time. When they put you on meds, did they put you on bed rest too? Or does high BP not necessarily mean bed rest? If this doesn't make sense please let me know . Thanks!
@babaylo I was never put on bed rest. Mine is considered just regular hypertension not preeclampsia which I would have maybe been on bed rest and would have been induced at 36 weeks according to my dr. That is what the urine test are for they do one in first trimester to get my numbers and compare to a urine test later in the pregnancy and if they're close its just my normal high blood pressure and not pregnancy related. I am usually like 145/80 so moderately high. But when I went into labor a day before my due date my be was 187 so way too high and they would have induced me if I wasn't already in labor.
