First time mom

Hello! I'm 20 weeks along, I'm 20 years old. I attend college and walking to class freaks me out with all the snow out and the ice on the ground. I kind of wish I could get a handicapped parking permit. Do any of you have any helpful tips for me? (:

Re: First time mom

  • Hey @mermaidlili13 Are you sure your school doesn't offer handicapped permits to pregnant women? Or temporary accommodations permits?

    Many schools do!

In the meantime, walking like a penguin helps stabilize you:) And we're already kind of waddling. OR, at least I am at 23 weeks.

  • I'm in school too and I find I worry about the same things. I talked to the health center at my school and they do offer accomodations. Give them a call and check! Doesn't hurt to try.
  • Get some ice cleats/spikes!

Hahaha. I feel like we should totally have her thread pinned so none of us forget the brilliant new set of rules she has instilled upon us

This is uncalled for. You have opinions. She has opinions. Honestly this is petty. Move on.

To the OP: I was pregnant in school with my son. I went to the accessibility services office. I had to get a doctors signature and then was able to park in handicap parking. Every school is probably different with their procedures but it is probably possible
  • Definitely walk carefully, being sure to transfer your weight onto your planted foot before taking the next step, and on fresh snow if you can (which will usually push down as you step rather than have a sheet of ice on top). As pps suggested, student health should be able to help you out with some kind of temporary pass.

  • Oh and be careful! Ice cleats/spikes scratch floors. I scratched my slate tile in the entranceway of my house today. :(

I'm not going to derail this thread- if you want to PM me that's totally fine but I'll just say I was JOKINGLY responding to a previous post. I'm allowed to have the opinion that what happened with that whole thread was totally silly.
