Re: Monday/Tuesday Ticker Change 1/11&1/12

  • Week/Fruit: 24/Cantaloupe

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: It's viability week for me! The Linea Nigra has started showing on my belly. Idk why but it is making everything feel so real. Cole moves all the time now and even punched H right in the ear yesterday. So in love with him.

Upcoming appointments: 01/20 for the glucose test and then 01/30 for 3D

Questions for the Group: How's everyone sleeping? I feel like I will pass out for a good 4 hours and then am up. I just can't seem to sleep longer than that!

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?
I really want a wipe warmer and the diaper vacuum seal trash can.

  • Week/Fruit: 23/grapefruit

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
Rant: this snow...it can melt any time.
Rave: ds1 has been calling the baby his "new little brother" this week! Hopefully in a few more weeks he won't be calling Brayden his baby sister anymore lol
Symptoms: constant headache. Beyond over it.

Upcoming Appointments: January 18 for a basic check in.

Questions for the group? Anyone else go a little registry crazy? I made one right away when I got my bfp for the coupons and now that we know the sex I've gotten back on and oh lordy...the stuff I registered for...there were two...78 DOLLAR BABY BLANKETS on there!!! What is wrong with me? Lol its just for DH and I to have as a guide to what we need for this LO but oh my lordy...I went crazy lol

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?
I want this ridiculous standing toy thing. It has a piano for where their feet go and a microphone and stuff...totally totally unnecessary...and I won't be spending 110 bucks on it, especially since we already have an exersaucer...but I really want it lol
  • @sarawifenow that's about how I sleep. I can't get comfortable anymore. And yay for my 1 year old deciding now...at 13 months he's going to START waking up every 3 hours at night...he's slept all night since he was born and it's quite an adjustment lol
  • Week/Fruit: 22 weeks / papaya

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Our family is FINALLY over the nasty cold! It lasted way too long. Now that it's over I'm feeling more tired....I think my body is trying to play catch up. I'm feeling the baby kick a lot which is cool.

Upcoming appointments: Next Monday for a regular check-up.

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? The momaroo swing. It's so expensive, but I like how much less space it takes up. I might sell the one we already have if I can find one that is on sale.

  • Week/Fruit: 24 weeks/cantelope

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Wahoo! Viability week! My son and I are just getting over a horrific cold and I am terrified it is going to hit MH. He is an amazing man, but he can get a man-cold like no one's business and I don't think I could handle it right now. Wow, am I an awful wife or what?!

Upcoming appointments: Today for a check-up.

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? I too have been going registry crazy since we are having a girl. There really isn't one specific item, but it is just the quantity of items and the redundancy of said items. All our baby washcloths and towels are still perfectly fine...do I really need to register for a whole other set in pink? Same with crib sheets, bedding, etc

@laurenmdrn16 if this one was a girl, I totally would! Just because! I got basically neutral stuff with ds1 though, but I'd still do pink everything lol but I'd prolly only buy 1 or 2 pink sheets and 1 girl towel with a pack of girl washclothes...it'd be the clothes I'd be insane over lol maybe it's a good thing we're having baby boy #3 haha

Edit to add...the man cold haha its the worst right? DH isn't awful with them but FIL is THE WORST. He had a cold last week (the one I've had for about a month now) and he was moaning and groaning and MIL and I were like "oh just go to bed" bahaha. The struggle is real!
  • @sarawifenow I'm sleeping ok at the moment, I think because my mind isn't at work quite so hard this time around. At this point with DD I was definitely awake for hours on end EVERY night in the MOTN. I'm sorry, I know how frustrating that is!!

@jessiedee13 - Ugh! DD went through a major sleep regression around 12/13 months, and it was not fun. I hope his sleep goes back to normal soon.

    Week/Fruit: 24/cantaloupe (tomorrow)

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Viability week here, too! Yay! I do feel like I have a lot of aches/pains/issues already that I didn't have till 30+weeks with DD.

Upcoming appointments: Wednesday, normal OB checkup.

Questions for the Group: Not right now.

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? Hmmm.... Maybe a Rock-n-play. I didn't get one with DD and probably won't with this one either, but I secretly want one to make nighttimes easier for the first couple of months.
  • Week/Fruit: 21/Pomegranate (tomorrow)

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant - starting to break out again.. wahhh. Rave - DH felt the baby for the first time last week - made me so happy! Symptoms - discharge.. wahh again. And weight gain is picking up.

Upcoming appointments: 01/20 for monthly check up.

Questions for the Group: Is it just my phone/computer that isn't showing how many 'new' replies on bump? It takes me to the top of every thread so I've been staying away thinking it was a glitch or something, but it has been 5 days.

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?
OMG - I'm struggling with just the basics so I'm not sure... I'll go with a personal nanny since that would make planning flex time that much easier :)
  • @rufflifephilly right with you on cloth diapers! It will be worth it :)
  • Week/Fruit: 21/Pomegranate

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant - This acne on my chest.. why won't it go away?! Ugh.

Raves - Feeling baby move around and hearing his heartbeat is amazing

Upcoming appointments: I had my money OB checkup today. All is well and I heard little man's heartbeat. He is measuring on track.

    Questions for the Group: None

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?
I'm not really sure. Is a baby carrier considered unnecessary? We registered for two because I need a small and DH needs a large.

    BFP: 4/20/2018
    EDD: 12/29/2018
  • @vinerie not that I recommend the way I do anything to anyone ever...but for real...the way I did my registry all 3 times was to set one up and just add every single thing I even kind of liked (hence the 78 dollar blankets...they were so cute but damn)...I had 7 different bottle warmers on it for example. I went back little by little and compared what I had on it and decided which was best for us. I've gotten it down down. 1 infart car seat (as opposed to my original 5), 1 double stroller, 1 bottle warmer (btw bf moms, I'm going to try it this time...are those things actually necessary or even helpful?), nixed the 2nd pack n play and opted for a rock n play instead (we have a split level and only having 1 pack n play has been misery)...we just went through and decided which ones were best and deleted the rest. I could see my way adding more stress though!

@Bluejay3030 ugh is right! DS1 NEVER went through sleep regression...only when he's sick is he up at night...he starting sleeping all night in the hospital...ds2 started sleeping all night once we came home so this up every 3-4 hours thing is killer! I think it might have something to do with daddy's ot this month though...since it started just as daddy time got cut alot shorter than usual :/ hopefully come February it'll be back to normal!
  • @vinerie I want that bookshelf now!

    Week/Fruit: 21/pomegranate

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I was having shooting pains in my hips when sleeping on my side, but I'm sleeping better now thanks to the method described below.

Upcoming appointments:  Just had our 20 wk. AS last Thursday, so no appointments again until early Feb.

Questions for the Group:  Have your parents/ILs decided yet what they want to be called by LO? There are already grandchildren on both sides for us, so ideally LO would call them by the same names used by their older cousins.  The problem is that the older cousins on each side refer to my dad/my FIL as "Papa."  So, I'm not sure what we are going to do because I'm afraid it will become confusing if our LO calls either of them something other than what their cousins call them.  Any creative ideas?

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?  I want a Baby Brezza formula dispenser. For those of you who don't know, it's basically a baby bottle Keurig!  While I plan to BF initially, I also plan to supplement with formula as needed. Probably totally unnecessary, but it seems like a pretty neat item!

@sarawifenow In response to your question about sleep, I have finally found a comfortable sleeping position.  I have been sleeping on my left side with my body pillow against my back, the bottom curve of the body pillow between my knees, a foam wedge pillow (about $20 at Target/Walmart) under my belly, and my regular pillow wedged inside the curve of the body pillow. The wedge really helps support the weight of my belly so it isn't putting as much strain on my back and hips. This position was suggested to me by my sonogram technician, and it has made a HUGE difference so far. The only problem is that I now take up our ENTIRE queen sized bed, so I've resorted to sleeping in the guest room lately. I miss DH!

  • Week/Fruit: 24 / cantaloupe

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
Rant: got a stomach bug over the weekend and ended up on fluids in L&D. Luckily the babies looked great and I'm much better now but that sucked.

rave: feeling lots of movement. Viability!! Woot!!

Symptoms: lots and lots of horrible heartburn. Otherwise not a whole lot!

Upcoming appointments: actually sitting in the waiting room of the perinatologist. And then not another appointment until February 2.

    Questions for the Group: none

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby?
    All the bows and headbands!

    Week/Fruit: 23/grapefruit

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Rant/Symptoms: the heartburn has started and it's a KILLER. my ob told me to take zantac but it only makes it less bad, doesn't make it go away. Rave: MH can feel baby boy kick sometimes and it's so awesome.

Upcoming appointments: a check-up on Thursday where I'm pretty sure they'll schedule my glucose test (dreading it).

Questions for the Group: is anyone else having Braxton Hicks contractions? I've been noticing them especially right before bed several nights in the past week and it's somewhat unnerving.

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? Not that a stroller is unnecessary but I definitely want the Uppababy Vista which is more expensive of a stroller than I could get... but I really want it and am wearing MH down  Also interested in the mamaroo swing but probably wont spring for that one!

  • @jessiedee13 - wow, 2 great sleepers!! I'm jealous! DD was such a bad sleeper. Still, whatever the reason it's so hard when they randomly start waking up. Hang in there!
  • @swflJD our kids call my mom and MIL "grandma" my dad "grandpa" and FIL "grampie". Both great grandma's are "grandma-great" they're the only grandchildren but for great grandchildren everyone calls them something different! Our kids know who we're referring to and if my 2yo asks "which grandma greats house mama?" Then I say either "the farm" or "the little house". The most confusion for us is the 2nd cousins. They use my 1st name as well as my MIL's and my kids are like wait...the other kids have called me mama and MIL grandma before out of habit just hearing it, and my kids have called mils sister "grandma" before. It happens. Kids are great at just figuring it out though :)
  • We also had to tackle the grandparent naming issue since my grandmother has always been Grammie to me and my mom assumed she would be Grammie as well. Turns out, my MIL called dibs on Grammie and since she already had 5 grandchildren, she won. My mom was bummed, but then my son just automatically started calling her Grandma Kitty because she has a bunch of cats. My mom loves it because her father used to call her Kitty as a nickname and she thought it was so sweet my son came up with it. Now, he mostly just calls her Grandma and we don't see the ILs very much, but every so often he will call her Kitty and she loves it! We will encourage Baby Luna to call her Grandma Kitty as well, but honestly, kids sometimes come up with the cutest stuff on their own!

My god daughter has 8 grandparents (step-grandparents etc) so it was a little dicey for them trying to figure out who was who. Well, she called one set Grandma and Grandpa Bubbles (who knows why!) and one of her grandfathers Grandpa Mustache because he has a sweet 'stache. So guess what his wife is called? Grandma Mustache! She also has Nana and Pop Pop, and Bumpo and Gigi (again, all picked by the little lady when she was around 2!). The possibilities are endless!

  • @babyfmama - Yep, I have been getting BH contractions all the time. I notice them more towards the end of the day, as well. Annoying.
  • @hellogoodbye2and @babyfmama My sister has a Mamaroo swing for my 7 week old niece, and my niece LOVES it!  I'm crossing my fingers they aren't still using it by May.
  • Week/Fruit: 20/ banana

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: feeling mostly better, having some hip pain though... not sure, but figured it was normal. Excited to reach the halfway mark! :)

Upcoming appointments: Thursday 20 wk ultrasound :)

    Questions for the Group: None

GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? Not even sure of all the things I actually need for baby to know if something I want for baby is unnecessary yet.
  • @swflJD You may want to check Zulily. Last time I checked their "ready to ship" section, they had one of those on sale.

  • @AdorkablePixie Thanks for the tip!  I'll definitely check it out!
  • That canoe is awesome! @sosweet487
There's an in home day care I sent my oldest to one day a week here...his friends go there and I figured it'd be good socialization for him. When I picked him up one day, he said "bye bye mama see you next week" I said buddy why do you call her mama? "She told me to". I don't think so. She refused to allow him to call her anything else because that's what she likes. He doesn't go there anymore. He's not calling his babysitter "mama" unless it's on accident.

Sorry, but your story reminded me of that and I had to get it off my chest. I feel you.

  • GTKY: What is something completely unnecessary that you really want for baby? This mobile from Etsy. Our nursery theme is Storybook Forest so I thought it would be perfect.
OMG! That is awesome! And I love the theme. So cute!

As a massive Harry Potter nerd (I am naming my baby Luna after all) I feel like this is mandatory.
