Stabby Sunday

Because I'm stabby... And while it's not Saturday, Sunday still qualifies since it also starts with an S ;)

What are you stabby about? Today, or any day for that matter!!

So here's mine:

Husbands step brother decides to send a Facebook invite last minute (Thursday for a Sunday event) for his fathers birthday (my husbands stepdad). Wants everyone to show up at a local Vets club in Greenwich at 12:00 to celebrate stepdads birthday. We don't live in Greenwich, we live in the Hudson Valley about an hour and twenty minutes away. Also, husband is not close with stepdad (happened in later years) but we figured why not, we had no other plans and we knew stepdad would appreciate it.

So, obviously us heading down there takes a bit of planning as we don't live locally and have a 5 week old. Well, as we get rolling and are on our way we both get a notification via FB post that they won't be at the vets club till 1:00... WTF!?!?!?

Thank you, Joe... for asking everyone to partake in your dads birthday at the last minute and then at the last LAST minute, changing the start time. Because now we're going to have to find a way to waste an hour.... Yippeeeeeeee!

Happy Sunday :)

  • I'm just overall stabby. I went back to work on Thursday and I hate it, all I can think of is LO and everything I'm missing. Ontop of that DH doesn't have a set schedule so he mainly has off weekdays and I'm off weekends so now we hardly see each other. I only gave help to watch LO M-F so I'm kind of resenting that he gets actual days off during the week. While I gave to rush like a mad woman during nap time on the weekend to get anything done.

Just not having the best day today.

I have to go back to work tomorrow .. I have been stabby all weekend
  • I have been so sick. Fever, body aches, that got better and now a cold. Wtf. I need to be 100% to take the best care of my little.

Pretty sure I've come down with the achy gross flu. And yesterday Zeke spent all day screaming because he couldn't breathe because it was too dry in our house and his nose was too stuffed for even the nosefrida. Part of me is mad because I got the flu shot but my immune system is crap right now thanks to lack of sleep. And I'm pissed at whoever gave me the flu

That explains it... The lack of sleep is causing my immune system to be so shitty. I couldn't even put 2 and 2 together because I'm so tired.... Hahaha. Duh. Feel better mama!! And Zeke too!
  • I'm stabby because today was my only day off of work since I started NYE. It freazing outside so I've been inside all day & my 3 yo has been driving me nuts with his cabin fever. I had to lock myself in the bathroom because if I heard "mommy" one more time I was gonna lose it & one of my resolutions was to not yell as much or lose my cool. & I have to go back to work tomorrow & have a convo with my boss because I am WAY to exhausted to make up for everyone else who doesn't do their job. I need more then one day off every 2 weeks. I miss my kids damn it.
  • Stabby at this witch that tells me I'm torturing my baby and risking her suffocating from tummy time at 2 months! I almost punched her when she went to get my baby off her blanket on the floor. She insisted no she's too young maybe at 5 months I can do it. Uhh...no mind your freaking business wombat. (That was supposed to be woman but my auto correct suggested wombat and I think it fit better lol) I Googled and showed her the AAP reccomends tummy time start the DAY the come home from the hospital. She said no that's wrong. Omg then her husband comes and I'm feeding LO a bottle while she's laying and he says What are you doing sit her up? Can you drink laying down? Ugh I've had enough. I told him mind your own business! And continued. People r crazy!
  • Stabby because my husband still doesn't help in the middle of the night...or during the day for that matter...back to work a week and my weekend was no bit of rest. I'm exhausted and miss my little girl being at work all day. Just stabby all around

Sorry I was late to the party...oh I live in the Hudson Valley as well!
  • I change my answer. Insurance companies are making me stabby. I've been on the phone now for almost two hours with two different companies being transferred around, I won't bore you with the details but seriously this is ridiculous. My poor baby had her first round of shots today too and I feel bad that she feels bad!!
  • I'm stabby at my husband, as usual. My baby has a lazy suck and isn't getting enough milk from nursing (after nursing for an hour she got less than 2 ounces) and so this past weekend I pumped all weekend. Well LO finally decided she would accept formula. I told DH that I was just going to give her formula from now on because it's not practical to pump every 1.5-2 hours for 20 minutes while I'm at home alone with the baby. He went on and on about how I'm putting the baby at risk if I do that and that he'd wake up at night to bottle feed her while I pump. Fast forward to this morning. LO woke up ONE TIME last night and he's whining like a baby about it.

Sounds familiar, I was solely pumping for awhile and my husband complained about how much time it took to pump and he had to take care of the baby more and more after work...then when I made the switch at about 6 weeks to solely formula he said I could've pumped and given her breast milk for longer that I didn't try hard enough...WTAF!

I feel your pain, wait until he has to get up every hour on those special nights :)

What is wrong with these men?! Pumping is hard. I think it's great that you made it 6 weeks! After one weekend I want to quit.

Haha he probably will after to deal with her waking up every hour soon because no matter what I say he turns on the television really loud and turns lights on etc when he's up with her. I worked really hard at making nighttime seem boring so that she would only wake up 1-2 times a night.
  • Stabby because this is the second nasty diaper rash my DD got after switching to cloth. I thought cloth was supposed to be way better for preventing diaper rash? I've got her in disposables so I can use aquaphor to treat it. So upset. Guess I have to monkey with my detergent and wash routine, but I hate "experimenting" with her little bum :(
  • @Shelbyville30 and @cwoods1016 I'm in the Hudson Valley as well! Even named my son Hudson! Didn't realize that there were so many of us on the BMB! Sorry to hijack the thread, just wanted to say hello to you both!!

We are CD and I use all free and clear detergent and haven't had an issue, though none of us have very sensitive skin. I've found coconut oil works well for the beginning of a diaper rash, clears it right up and is CD safe. Good luck!

OMG I know, I want to kill my husband when he's loud at night...I purposely make it darker and quieter for her so it signals night time!!! UGH if they got up with the LO in the middle of the night then ok do whatever you feel is correct, but geesh!

We use Charlie's soap on our CDs.
And with my daughter we found that coconut oil gave her a rash. I thought it was good for everything!
  • Stabby at my husband. Have been feeling sick since Saturday. Got a fever of upwards of 104 on Sunday. Found out Monday I have strep. Still have a fever today and I can't sleep because every time I swallow I wake up from the pain. I'm super thankful for him because he decided to work from home yesterday and today so that he could help me.

All day he's been complaining about not getting anything done although he also said he got done everything he needs to. Zeke is super fussy and I don't have the energy to do anything so I asked DH to put him to sleep. He gets all huffy and says "fine I'm not getting any work done today anyway." Never mind the fact that he was on Facebook and drinking hot chocolate when I asked for his help. You were clearly trying so hard to get things done. Sorry I'm inconveniencing you with OUR child whom I care for most of the time. Sorry I caught strep and my body sucks at fighting it because my immune system is so compromised from lack of sleep.

I did a ton of research and am trying tide powder to start. If that doesn't work I'll try tide free and clear or Charlie's - I've heard great things. She went to the pediatrician today for her 2mo appt and the doctor said it looked like contact dermatitis vs a diaper rash. Hoping it's the detergent and not the micro fleece in my BG 4.0s. Luckily her rash is almost completely gone!

I would think that it's probably the detergent- fingers crossed!
If you need a good barrier ointment, lanolin is cloth diaper friendly, and works well.

My oldest got contact dermatitis from huggies, which is why we switched to cloth. We used tide free and clear but it started causing build ups, we tried Nellie's but that caused ammonia build up giving her bum ammonia burn. We now use regular liquid tide and no more problems. She still got the odd bad rashes, her doctor is certain her ammonia is too strong so changing right after a pee with lots of air time helped. She's 80% potty trained now so finally the rashes stopped.
Hopefully you find something that works! We dealt with bad rashes for 2 years, trying so many different things.

I have never heard of this! What is it exactly? Do they do it everyday?
  • @cwoods1016

Waddle N' Swaddle is a store, owned by Jenn Sullivan, who is also a Lactation Consultant. She has locations in Beacon, Poughkeepsie, and Rhinebeck. It's a GREAT store, but what I love the most is the community she creates among mamas. She has a ton of classes and activities for moms and their little ones. I go to the nursing circle every Thursday in Poughkeepsie, which is free. I think Beacon has their nursing circle on Tuesday. She is there and one by one you go around the circle discussing concerns/milestones. Yesterday we talked about pumping, going back to work, sleep schedules, public feeding... A ton of stuff. She's super helpful, plus you meet other moms going through the same things. I LOVE IT! I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Sorry if this is all over the place. Trying to respond with LO cradled in left arm #momskills haha

Excellent mom skills! That is a great idea for support for moms! Is it solely for nursing mamas, I stopped nursing at 6 weeks?
  • @cwoods1016

To be honest, not entirely sure. Although, all of the ladies there were either nursing or pumping. Maybe give them a call if you want to check out?

Just as a side note.. All three locations are by some seriously delicious cafes so grabbing lunch nearby is an added bonus :)
