Decrease in fetal movement

Has anyone else noticed a significant decrease in fetal movement?
Up until four days ago, my little one was very active and predictable. For the last few days, though, I barely feel him/her. There is still movement but not much.

My hunch is that the baby had a growth spurt and doesn't have as much room to move and groove, but I also don't want to ignore it if this is something I should call my doc about.

Thoughts??

  • It's definitely a thing.  If you are nervous then it never hurts to call your doc.  They'll probably tell you to drink a big glass of orange juice and lay on your left side.  If you're not feeling 10 movements in an hour after that to come in.

  • I also recommend the left side and cold orange juice or anything cold and sweet. If doesnt perk baby up call your ob right away and tell what's going on. It's always best to get checked when in doubt.
  • my LO is doing exactly the same thing, actually. it really freaked me out at first. i spoke with my doctor about it & he didn't really give me any answers, which kind of annoyed me. he checked the heartrate as usual & it was at a good beat.

definitely bring it up to your doctor or OB at your next appointment. hopefully you'll actually get some answers!
  • My movement feels on a larger scale now, and more often. It's often uncomfortable. I had a scare around 20 weeks, and dr said should be able to feel
Movement the entire pregnancy. When it doubt just get Checked. It's easy and a relief.
  • I actually feel it more. Lay on your side after drinking OJ and perform a kick count. When in doubt call your doctor.

  • My doctor says unless I haven't felt movement in over 24 hrs to not call! So stressful. It's happened several times. My little guy is so not active. I'll feel a bit of movement here and there but nothing for hours. I'm a FTM and I started feeling him at 17 weeks around 23 weeks I couldn't feel him moving for over 24 hrs and I was very worried. But my doctor sucks and I wish I could change to someone who cares.
  • Yup, ice cold or fizzy drink, lay on left side and call IMMEDIATELY if you don't feel 10 movements in an hour. I would not care about a doctor who tells me not to call until 24 hours have passed. In my opinion, that is totally irresponsible advice from a doctor.
I feel my little one every day, several times a day and if I'm worried, I call. No matter what anyone sais!
  • I'm with @ecwk, I feel his movements more often than I had in the previous weeks. I'm sure this will soon change once he gets a little bigger and runs out of room!

  • I'm noticing minimal movement as time goes on. Still hitting the kick counts but it sometimes takes apple juice or ice water to get her moving.
