Texas/Military spouses.... input please!

My husband is military and set to be deployed in a few months. He will probably not be home for the baby's birth. I know in PA he had to be there to sign a form for DD's birth certificate. Does he have to be there to sign something now that we live in Texas?

If he's deployed, there's nothing you can really do about it.
I would highly encourage you to call the hospital where you're delivering and ask these questions.
Also, get a general POA, which you'll need anyway to enroll your LO in DEERS.

Also adding that my husband will likely miss the birth. He's stationed in Germany, though.
I have an appointment in a couple of weeks, so if you'd like me to, I can ask there for both of us.

I'm pretty sure he is not required to sign in TX, just make sure you have a POA while he is gone. Each state is different, call the local county office and ask.

According to my DH - we are at Ft Bliss and he is a doctor here - your DH doesn't have to be there to sign the birth certificate. If they tell you he does, a POA form should suffice but there's no reason they should. Especially if he's deployed, so keep a copy of his orders handy. Also, are you delivering at a military hospital? I will be and that simplifies things a bit.

There's an orientation?! Lol. I haven't heard but I do like the centering program they have - I only went to one session before I lost the last baby. I'd imagine the orientation appointment just covers the steps of pregnancy at WBAMC. I will send you a PM with my cell number and maybe we can get together over the course of the pregnancy and be mommy friends or at least it will be easier for you to ask me questions and vice versa!

Mine is set to go to Germany... we think that's where anyways. No set leave date, no set info on where, no set time frame of being deployed. Pretty much everything he needs to know we don't know.

And I have an orientation appt with my obgyn on the 21st, so I will ask then. Thanks for the help!

@FireInWonderland We are also at Ft Bliss! I will be delivering over at WBAMC. This is our first child to be born in a military setting. So I had no idea what to expect, but I remembered what he had to do when DD was born.

Do you know what the orientation at WBAMC is about? I hate going into something unprepared. So I'll being a pad and pen to it, but I haven't met anyone yet that has really clued me into what it'd about.
