Hi ladies! I wanted to start a thread for all of the c section moms on here so that we had a place to share our delivery stories, recovery details, and amazing moments with our new babies! I am scheduled to delivery on the 12th and would love to hear from the other 1/16 moms who have scheduled or unexpected c sections.

SURPRISE! Hannah May born 01/22/16
I had an emergency c section on 1/6 after about 12 hrs of labor. Made it all the way to 10 without meds but baby didn't tolerate the pushing and her heart rate dropped too much. Very crazy experience going from my zen like labor to a "ok, things are going to start moving pretty fast...." - a bunch of nurses coming in, pushing hubs aside, a winding/dizzying run thru the hospital to the OR, getting transferred to some sort of plank thing, arms spread open, legs spread open and strapped down, trying to manage horrible contractions with no support, getting sprayed all over with a cold liquid that stained my nursing bra and then hearing "you'll feel some pressure in your throat" as the anesthesia kicked in. Woke up a couple hours later to my hubby carrying in baby girl, started crying because baby!!! but loved cuddling her. While waiting for our mother-baby room to get ready found out part of what took so long was waiting on the X-ray to make sure they didn't leave any instruments inside of me! Apparently once I was under they got baby out in 30seconds and there was no time to count before/after!
We got released a day early which now that we are home maybe wasn't the best decision since things were a little easier all in one room with help available at the push of a button!
Still having a lot of intense soreness, probably some from the surgery itself and some from the full body flexing during labor. I know I did a lot of full on body trembling during each contraction between 7-10cm. Ug
Hardest parts are getting up/down, trying to splint while laughing, and trying to find a comfy position to breastfeed. I'm a little disappointed everything didn't go according to plan (duh!?) but am so happy to have my healthy baby here at home.
Looking forward to following you other mommas and any tips for recovery!

We had a surprise but not emergency section on Tuesday 1/5/16. Originally Tuesday was going to be an exciting day because we had our OB consultation to determine when our section would be scheduled for next week. I left the house just after noon, with no idea I would not be going home again that day. When we saw the OB she palpated my abdomen and thought baby may have turned, and wanted to do a vaginal to be sure. Once she got her fingers in there she was surprised to find that with very little discomfort to me or any signs of contractions I was well dilated and she could feel feet. Given that I was a FTM, dilated so far and so easily, and presenting small parts rather than a head or bum to "plug" the whole, she was concerned my water would break and we'd have an emergency on hand. So she sent me straight to the hospital.
The OB on call confirmed that she was complete breech with feet down and her arm between her legs and so he scheduled me for exactly an hour later. I was in the OR by 5:06, and Olivia was born 24 minutes later. The section was 'boring' routine as one of the nurses put it! Thank God. After a few moments of skin-to-skin they took her back cleaned her up and put her on DH for skin-To-Skin until we got went to Recovery.
We spent 2.5 hours in recovery where she slept on my boob and latched / nursed a bit. At 2am I was out of bed for the first time and to the washroom.
I cannot believe what a crazy day we had. But the second that baby girl was out of me, I felt an instant calm and happiness like no other. Everyone is so right when they say it won't matter how they got here. So to you mama's struggling right now and afraid you will have to abandon your birth plans, let it go. Don't let it upset you if that's what happens. The c-section does not make you any less of a woman / mother, and in fact I think the section is just as challenging given the challenge of the first weeks of being a mother and recovering from major surgery at the same time. Your birth is your story no matter what and, truly will be the most beautiful thing no matter what way it goes down! Best of luck for you all who have yet to have had your sections. You'll be amazing!

Wow that was a long post! Sorry!
I had a csection due to bub being breech.
It was on Jan 5th. IThe epidural process really wasn't to bad- didn't really hurt, it really helps knowing what's to come- we were laughing and joking around, then they lay you on the table. My husband came They started the procedure- I excpected to "feel" a bit but I didn't realize how forceful the doctor has to be to get the baby out- I was being thrown around like a sack of potatoes. Lol. I really doesn't hurt though. Then the doctors let my husband look- he said he didn't want to and then decided to peek- his face lit up with joy. It was beautiful. She both poooed and weed entering the world lol. She didn't cry imediatly then took her to the table- suctioned her, and then she let out a scream! I expected her to be purple but she was soooooo purple- after they swaddled her and gave her to daddy she stopped crying and just looked around the room in awe I wanted to hold / touch her but I was scared too at the same time so Daddy held her next to me and I just looked. I started to feel sick by this point- and strayed dry heaving - so really a couldn't concentrate on much. My husband and daughter left the room- then the surgeon removed two endometrioma a from my ovary- this made me feel very sick so they gave me Maxalon. I felt better. Imediatly. The stitching up takes ages. Then I went recovery for the first feed- which went well- that was when I really started to fall in love with my daughter!!! but one thing I didn't know was they put pitocin in your drip after to encourage your uterus to contract vback down.!that really hurt!!!! I was trying to be brave and not ask for pain meds- don't do that- ask!!!
Overall a csection isn't terrible when it's planed- I think you are so prepared for it- the first three days of recovery are awful- but then you feel miles better after that. I can do anything but lift heavy things and get up quickly.
Being a mother and "giving birth" is an amazing experiance- no matter how it is done. I hated pregnancy but it was so so worth it.
