My baby is 16 weeks and just started to really jam his hand in his mouth he doesn't seem like he is in too much pain. And lately 1 degree below a fever but this morning he was done his bottle and was putting is hands in his mouth and crying so sometimes he does that if he wants more milk so I put my finger in the receiving blanket and in his mouth and then he screamed... And he never screams put back in crib and cried a bit so I gave Tylenol. How often is everyone giving it while teething? Everyday? Twice a day? More? And for how long a week of two... Can you over due it. If this will help him I want to keep giving the Tylenol.
Re: Baby Tylenol for teething? How often? How much is too much?
I thought for sure my guy had teeth coming in too but the pedi said she didn't see any yet at our 4-month appointment. They can have teething symptoms up to a few months before a tooth emerges though.
I would use infant Tylenol sparingly and try other things first. If he has a fever that keeps creeping up, it's ok to use ... my 17 lb 10 oz took 2.5 mL after his shots when he got a fever, but I only gave him one dose and the fever went away. The nurse said I could give it to him every 4 hours until his fever was gone, but one dose did the trick. The amount you give is based on baby's weight, so I would check with a doctor or nurse.
Teething can last a long time and happens a lot over the next few years, so it's probably best not to go overboard on medicating
