So I know we have gone over that you should not throw your own shower. However, what about S/Os and diaper parties? I have been to two in the past and they, to my knowledge, were thrown by the dad-to-be.
I will be having 2 showers. 1 thrown by my SILs and 1 by my mom and 2 bffs. The one by the SILs will be a co-ed scavenger hunt dealio on a Saturday. Mom's will be a more laid back (mostly) ladies shower with silly games the next day.
DH has been asked by multiple friends if he is having a diaper party and he wants to he thinks it is a cool idea. I just wondered if it falls in the same category or not since it's a newer thing and really its just a party/cookout for the guys to hang out.
Thoughts?
Re: Diaper Party
I think the idea of him wanting to do a diaper party is it's more for his single guy friends who are excited about the baby and have been asking what we want.
My DH knows half of the state of NC (I'm only exaggerating by a little) and I have been involved in so many organizations over the years so we have friends all over the place. We are both really lucky to have really good friends groups who we have had for years. In addition to that we are both from bigger families. So to me it is super overwhelming to think of trying to squeeze everyone into one event. (I am dreading the list of our actual wedding later this year).
The way it is playing out, most of the people at the co-ed shower are couple friends or his side of the family. Since we are doing a scavenger hunt everyone needs partners. My mom's will be most of my life long friends, my family and family friends. So this was to be his thing. He is super pumped about this dad thing and his friends are too, his best friend offered to throw it and cook (he is a chef). But like I said originally I didn't know the etiquette for this.
In my mind it made sense for the guy to throw it as he would be the one cooking/getting food and providing the beers for the guys. That's what happened at the last 2 I went to.
Thanks for the views though!
