Re: **Thursday Ticker Change -- 1/7**

  • Week/Fruit: 21/Pom.... Ovia says baseball hat!  I like that better.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I feel awesome!  This baby is so wild in the evening/night.  It's fun to feel him kick, punch, and roll.

    Upcoming appointments: in 3 weeks.

Questions for the Group:  Any nursery progress?  We're getting everything measured for new carpet in our entire upstairs today.  Hopefully we can get that all installed within the next month and then I can really get to work.

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby?  I would love to, but I don't think we will.  Any vacation days I take from work now are less paid days that I'll have during my leave.  Maybe we will find something fun to do for a weekend or something.

Week/Fruit: 23! The bump says it's a grapefruit, but I think that's crazy talk. The Bump-Dad-Edition says baseball mitt, which makes more sense for a baby that's nearly 1 foot.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I'm enjoying the kicks, my bump is rounding and growing, and my colostrum is in. I'm still having some cravings off and on, as well as intermittent lower back pain and that loose-hip feeling. When I exercise more, those are better. BH are here with a vengeance, as is pregnancy brain and butter-fingers. I somehow managed to drop/fling a glass of water behind the couch yesterday when picking it up from the side-table.

Upcoming appointments: Not for a few weeks

Questions for the Group: Not that I can think of-- I'll edit if I come up with something.

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby? Does Target count? No, we aren't planning a trip; we did a beach vacation with DS last summer and will probably take some sort of short, informal vacation this summer depending on how everything goes.
  • Week/Fruit:  20/banana

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Still having trouble sleeping because of the shooting pains in my hips from sleeping on my side. I finally felt some movement day before yesterday (on my birthday!), and I have been getting some flutters a few times a day since.

Upcoming appointments:  20 wk AS was this morning. Everything looked good, and LO was striking all kinds of poses during his photoshoot!

Questions for the Group:  Do you plan on taking parenting/birthing classes, and if so, when do you plan to start?

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby?  Not really because (like PPs said) any time I take off at this point is less paid maternity leave, but we will be doing some weekend trips.  Next weekend, we are going to Ft. Lauderdale for a concert with friends, then we will be flying up to Ohio in late February for our first baby shower, and then traveling to Alabama in March for our second shower.  Aside from that, we may do a weekend to the Keys or something before LO gets here, depending on time and budget constraints. But no big vacations before then.
  • @js8812 We don't have nursery progress because this LO will be room-sharing with us first, then with DS. I have a wishlist for when we eventually move, but we haven't bought anything from it because it wouldn't make sense yet.
@swflJD I'm not taking a class this time, except to consult with anesthesiology in case I need a RCS. We did a hospital tour/class last time and it was very helpful to know what to expect for hospital procedures/infant care.
  • @swflJD - we have signed up for a childbirth class that starts at the end of February. Not any particular method, but focusing on making natural choices in a hospital environment. My first two daughters were at a birth center, so I'm new to the hospital game.
  • Week/Fruit: 20/banana

    Rants/Raves/Symptoms:
Rant: I am so tired of being sick! DH is sick too, so we are both exhausted.
Rave: Bought some baby clothes since we found out it's a girl. EXCITING!
Symptoms: Still have to pee all of the time. Sucks.

    Upcoming appointments:
Next week, nutritionist and follow up on weight gain.

    Questions for the Group: Nada

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby?
Going to Mexico in February, headed back to the west coast to see my family in the spring, and taking a quick weekend down in the Keys for my birthday in April. Looking forward to some vacay.
  • Ah!  Jealous of your vacations.  We might do some weekend getaways, but there's nowhere cool really close by... so we'll see.

@swflJD We probably will do a birthing class, although most people I talk to think they are a huge waste of time.  I'm sure there will be some beneficial aspects of it, but it's a day and a half long.  Ick!  I'm definitely doing a breastfeeding class though.
  • Fruit/week- 20 (tomorrow) Banana!

Rants-None of my cute scrubs fit me.
    Raves-Feeling baby move.
    Symptoms-Headaches gahh

Upcoming appointment!- A/S in the morning this is better than waking up christmas morning!! Haven't seen baby since 8weeks.

    Questions-None

Any trips before baby? Hoping somewhere warm. DH got the okey for a feb vacation!
  • 22 weeks

Rants: I received unsolicited parenting advice from a coworker that began with "I don't have any kids and I know nothing about them but..."

    Raves: yay baby kicks!

Appointments: just had one, everything normal. Next month is the 1 got glucose test

Questions: had anyone felt any painful kicks? Like stabby feeling? I have an anterior placenta so maybe that had something to do with it? I have felt several painful stabby kicks in the front

Answers: @swflJD I signed up for a childbirth/infant care class at the hospital (ftm, and I like to be over prepared). My doctor said it is good to learn about ask the different things that will/could be happening during delivery. I will also be signing up for a breastfeeding class

Gtky: we are going to the WI dells late February for our nieces' birthdays. Doctor said I could ride the slower/boring water slides still :)
  • Day late here, whoops.
    Week/Fruit: 20w 1d/ Banana

Rants: I've been getting migraines which really don't mix with anything, let alone a busy DD. Also lightning crotch, and nausea has returned.

Raves: More energy (generally speaking), and loving feeling all of the wiggles and kicks. This baby is really active. I don't remember my DD being so wiggly.

Upcoming appointments: We had our AS today. Team green. Baby is completely heathy! Our ultrasonographer commented that she hasn't seen such an "awesome" heart in a long time. She was nerding out!

Questions for the Group: none right now.

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby?
Probably not. We are building a home that's scheduled to be completed sometime in March. All our fun money is going to our new place! I'm not sad about it :)
  • Week/Fruit: 20/Banana

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: This damn cold can kiss my A**! I am coughing so much now that my throat is completely raw and blood comes up every time :(

Upcoming appointments: I went in on Wednesday and the doc pretty much didn't help me with my cold at all. I'm not sure what I expected, but I wish there was something I could do.

    Questions for the Group: None

GTKY: Are you taking any trips before baby? It sounds like we may be going to the east coast to visit my DH's Granddad for the last time :( He's not doing so great, but other than that we don't have any plans.

  • @evalynn24 my cough was like that when I had bronchitis and an infection. Did you see your OB, or PCP? If you have a respiratory infection, just a few days of antibiotics makes it significantly better, then the remaining occasional cough goes away within a week or two.
  • @kbrands7 yep I went to my OB and he checked my lungs and said there weren't any signs of an infection and he said it sounds like I have an underlying upper respiratory issue (like asthma). I already had bronchitis once this pregnancy and ended up in the ER and they gave me antibiotics and an inhaler. So this time my OB told me to keep using my inhaler in the morning and at night and if anything gets worse I should come in again.

He also said they will probably have to do a pulmonary test at some point in the near future to diagnose whatever is really going on. I had a really bad cough (I wasn't sick at all), that lasted almost two months, back in June and July when I was pregnant. I think this time I just got really sick along with it and my body hates me at this point for being pregnant so long.

I can't wait to have my pre-pregnancy immunity back. I've been sick more in the last two months than I have been in the last 10 years.

Anyway, long story short. Yes I went to the doctor, no I don't have an infection :( I would have much rather had an infection so I could knock it out quick.
