I agree. Perhaps see if you can get an honest recommendation from your current provider. Does she truly feel your diagnosis, etc is out of her area of expertise? What would change with a different doctor if you are in the same office setting?
Hey y'all, I have my first ultrasound today and I'm super nervous... and then I'm also wondering how you all got back to having sex after the BFP. My RE didn't want us to do anything a few days before FET and not again until after she confirmed a healthy pregnancy with ultrasound. I feel like I'm going to be to freaked out and all worried about the lil bean to really get into it. How hard/easy was it for y'all to get back on the saddle afterwards? I'm struggling here a lil. I'm going to ask my RE today, but you all give the best advice...

I'm 19 weeks today and still worry. I had a SCH from 5-9 weeks so I spotted. I still check the tissue after sex for blood. I have looked it up a lot and everything i read says as long as your pregnancy is not high risk, it is safe.
@ShayLatriceBest of luck today!! Hope you get some nerves calmed and questions answered! We gradually eased into it... I don't worry about it now but definitely the first few times it was a little weird!
Back from the ultrasound... no pic. But, we did see the little BEANS and we heard the 2 heartbeats!! Which means... I'm having identical twins! I have no words really... I thought she was joking and then she moved the ultrasound and I saw one bean on one end and another bean on the other end and then she let us hear the heartbeats. 120 and 125 BPM. We go back on the 21st (9 weeks) just to make sure they are both still there and then she will graduate me.
I'm totally freaking out!

@joyzie77 not sure if have any good advice when it comes to your doctor. Id want to know what she would like to try differently about the next cycle and maybe see if the other doctor has any differing opinions. Your embryos were PGD tested, right? It seems like having 3 good embryos for an IVF cycle is a decent result. Probably the only thing they would need to adjust is any meds or procedures before your transfers. And I still believe there's just a fair bit of "luck" that goes into IVF working - which stinks since they can't pinpoint why things didn't work out, but at least gives hope that things will work just fine later. I know my clinic for my diagnosis and age range is 40% FET sucess rate using 2 embies. My doc said its about half if you just do one. With those numbers at least, I think its very possible you were just on the wrong side of the statistics. Best of luck in the future, let us know how your next appointment goes!

My RE suggested since we now have twins that we hold off for a few more weeks on doing the dance. Hubby was so in shock he didn't even hear that part. My husband is a dark chocolate man and his face went pale.. Mouth wide open and he had to sit down cause he felt faint. Meanwhile I'm doing this strange weird cry/laugh thingie because I'm in total shock and my RE is beet red with excitement and joy. I keep asking myself if this is real life....

@ShayLatrice OMG! Seriously what is going on with this group?! CONGRATS!! This is just too wonderful. Keep calm and carry on... and the yes the math of x2 is a bit daunting!!!
Thanks for the advice ladies. I like our Doctor. I think she was trying to reassure us. Protocol will be slightly different this time. We are going to stick with her. Yes, @caitiemae we had 3. You are right... I feel the same way. Sometimes it's just time that is needed. Hopefully this round will be the lucky round. We think the doc is knowledgable and the SART stats for their practice is good so she's stuck with us for another round. I was pricing our Gonal f yesterday and almost fell out of my chair because of the price. Ouch. I went in yesterday for and ultrasound and bloodwork and they did a miscarriage panel for more info? I start birth control today. Moving forward! I like coming back to you guys because I'm watching your little ones grow and it's so awesome to see. It makes me hopeful and so happy for you all. Happy Nee year!
So now that this is starting to sink in... My RE said she is going to refer me to a Perinatologist?? What should I expect at those appointments? Will they work closely with my OB? I don't even know where to begin asking questions.

I know a lot of the twin moms here work with a Perinatologist, so I think it's pretty standard. I have not had that term brought up to me, but my OB seems almost too laid back!
@ShayLatrice perinatologist just specializes in multiples. Sounds like you're in great hands again! I keep telling my DH how excited I am for you and saying "@shaylatrice" rather than just "shay", he just looks at me. I can't believe how many identical a we've had. The odds beating in general here is nuts. We are a very fertile infertile group, and there's more to come soon! @Joyzie77 so excited to follow your next round! I'm glad you're re has a plan and you are already on the road. every single one of us is pulling for you!!
I am 19 wks had my first Peri appt last week for anatomy for the twins. I saw an OB first before going to a Peri though. Your OB will have a doctor or practice they work closely with that they will refer you to at 18 wks unless needed before hand. Mine is so convenient that it is across the hall from my OB. I have 2 OB's 1 Peri and 2 Midwives.... Twins are both head down currently so natural delivery is still on the table for us .

So my RE she is recommending me to a Peri in the same office as her and she actually wants me to see the Peri before she releases me to my OB. I think she is being a tad bit of a momma bear because I'm her youngest patient and she knows I don't have my mom around to be with me during this pregnancy so she is being really super protective... which is strange, but I guess a good thing.

@ShayLatricethat's so wonderful you have such a good relationship with your RE! You'll have to keep her updated on your progress! @Knottie24173360That's awesome they are head down already!! I can't decide how much to try and push for a vaginal delivery... My OB says as longs as the first one is head down we can try for it, but then you have to be prepared for baby number 2 not to turn and then you have a C-section on top of the natural birth! Ugh. Hopefully it will just be obvious when the time comes!! Clearly every pregnancy is different, but what have you all heard about the recovery process (pros/cons) for vaginal vs c-section?!

The mama bear behavior sounds so weird to me! But then my RE was very clinical and abrupt, which was perfectly fine for my personality. My OB is a lot more touchy feely, and is working closely with my perinatologist.
Are you seeing Dr Berry at Austin Perinatal Associates?
I honestly don't know who I am seeing. I guess I'll find out in 2 weeks. And then I they tell me today I'm a tad anemic so I have to up my iron intake so I'm having to eat more raisin bran, spinach and iron enriched foods. Tell me this... how do you eat enough food. Cause I read with twins you should eat 1000-1300 more calories per day... and I'm like WHAT?? That sounds SO very not doable for me.

Hmm, I can't get the link to open... I basically eat what I normally would plus throughout the day add an apple w/ peanut butter, peppers w/ hummus, stuff like that. I've been gaining about a pound a week since meeting with my OB and she is happy with that. I have officially popped and have a nice lil belly!
Same here. I'm probably about 600 calories more than normal and am gaining about .6 a week. Really it's all about listening to your body. It will tell you when you need more of something. For me, this week, it's peanut butter.
@ShayLatrice I hope you have an amazing first tri with no exhaustion or nausea. If so, eat everything that looks good! In the first trimester, I just tried desperately to eat anything, let alone additional calories. The dr said not to worry as stress makes the nausea worse. You're not there yet and may never be, but forcing food also made it worse. I just did what I could to survive, which included strawberries before every mini meal and no meat. I lost weight during the IVF cycle, but still gained the few pounds required in first tri despite feeling like death warmed over most of the time. I would drink half an ensure before bed to help me sleep through the night and boost my protein intake.
I've had extreme exhaustion and it seemed to really kick it up a notch this week. I'm 7 weeks 1 days and I can barely keep my eyes open past 1pm. The nausea comes in waves, and it isn't super bad. But once I eat something it seems to go away. But It has started happening a little more this week. The problem for me is I've been having food aversion in general. It is like I'm really not hungry. I wake up at 2am to pee and then I'll be hungry then and I'll eat something and then go back to sleep. I eat breakfast and lunch... but I'm forcing myself to snack and eat dinner because I really don't be hungry. And that is why I'm nervous. So I'll be sitting down with my nutritionist to put a plan in motion to make sure I'm getting good nutrition. On top of that I'm a lil anemic and then with having twins they said that it could get worse so I have to increase my iron intake.
This has really changed everything.

Honestly once you get past the MS eating the extra calories needed are really easy. I am Pescitarian and I bring lots of snacks to my office. Examples 2 cups shelled soy beans with cracked pepper and salt... Heavy green salads, Fruit lots of fruit, nuts mainly almond, oh and avocado with salt and pepper yummy yummy. I do meet with the nutritionist that the peri suggested in 2 wks though.......

My nausea was worst between weeks 9-11 but I've struggled with food aversions since week 7. They still haven't gone away and on top of that I now feel very full after eating very little, so for me getting the increased calories or even my normal amount is still challenging at 17 weeks. Babies don't care though! They grow just fine, at this stage the nutrition is more for us.
Peanut butter was always something I could count on -- it didn't upset my stomach, I didn't have an aversion to it like soooo many other things AND it helped with protein intake (which I really needed because meat/dairy was my main aversion).
Also, 16+3 today. Went for our monthly check up and heard a strong heartbeat! So far our cub is still tracking boy **according to HBM wives tale Already getting excited about out 20 week anatomy scan! We haven't seen *him* in about 2 months -- when he was mostly blob/flickering heart. Eager to see a baby!
Tomorrow I plan on starting prenatal yoga. Any others in the group?
@jav5y2Great updates from you!!! I'm interested in hearing about prenatal yoga. Let us know how it goes! I did competitive Bikram Yoga for several years so not sure how I would transition to other yoga. And now I stick with Barre workouts. Seem to do the trick for me - right amount of stretching/cardio/weights.
Man, even with nausea, I never have a problem (over) eating! I may need to watch it here... we'll see how my #s look at my next visit in 3.5 weeks!! I agree that I am just starting to feel 'full' all the time. So lots of small meals and snacks all day. Big belly coming!!
@ShayLatrice "this has really changed everything" LOL aahhhh YES YES YES! And it will be AMAZING
@ShayLatrice I was pretty blessed and had an easy first trimester, but boy, was I exhausted all the time! Once daylight savings time ended, I would seriously fall asleep at 7 PM. Looks like now that I'm in my 15th week, I have a little bit more energy, I even stayed up past 10 PM last night! I'm w/ @mclorn , eating has never been an issue for me, and if anything the only time I feel queezy is if I haven't eaten yet. I've actually have gained probably too much weight, the holidays definitely did not help. I started also getting that "full" feeling all the time so hopefully that'll keep me in line w/ my eating.
@mclorn what on earth is competitive bikrim, that's got to be hella intense!

Are you seeing Dr Berry at Austin Perinatal Associates?

I basically eat what I normally would plus throughout the day add an apple w/ peanut butter, peppers w/ hummus, stuff like that. I've been gaining about a pound a week since meeting with my OB and she is happy with that. I have officially popped and have a nice lil belly!
This has really changed everything.

Man, even with nausea, I never have a problem (over) eating! I may need to watch it here... we'll see how my #s look at my next visit in 3.5 weeks!! I agree that I am just starting to feel 'full' all the time. So lots of small meals and snacks all day. Big belly coming!!
@ShayLatrice "this has really changed everything" LOL aahhhh YES YES YES! And it will be AMAZING
