Re: Weekly Check-in January 4

  • Hi ladies!  I hope you all had a nice holiday!

Our week was good.  Had family in town til the 31st.  My parents came from Florida and my brother from Jersey.  Had a really nice Christmas.  Was the first time we have all been together for Christmas in 10 years.  Guess the first grandkid/niece will do that to a family. :)  My cousin was also in town and we have a five-person impromptu New Year's Eve party.  Ugh.  That was fun, but NOT a good idea, lol.  Haven't had that much wine in a LONG time.

I was off from work for two weeks, but got zero accomplished other than having fun. :)

This year I am looking forward to getting married!  May 29th is the day.  I gained four pounds over the holidays, so I am signing up for a weight loss challenge at work.  Both me and the fiance are super motivated because we want to look good for the wedding day and honeymoon.  :)  I would like to lose at least 20 pounds, which will put me at what I was when we met. :)

Also looking forward to paying off more debt.  Can't wait til we are debt-free!!!

  • @jerseygirl227 - so glad you had such a nice time with family!

After our Christmas travel, we had a week off at home. Took LO on his first bike ride (in trailer), bought a new back pack carrier for hiking and got some projects done around the house. We also worked really hard on LO's schedule and sleep. Definitely seeing some improvement, and was fabulous to start the year off with six hours of uninterrupted sleep.

This is a big year for us, being LO's first birthday, DH's 40th and our 10 year wedding anniversary. I'm really hoping to plan a Europe trip in the spring to celebrate our anniversary... so need to start working harder on that asap! (Got one task done yesterday by getting passport photos for LO and my renewal :) ).

  • Hi all. First post here. LO is probably teething so he is a bit more fussy than usual, poor thing he is suffering. So for the past few days we have been trying to comfort him as much as we can. He seems also as if he is on a nursing strike. I don't ebf but I try to breastfeed as often as possible. So my goal is to hit the 6 month mark as it has been a challenge so far. He is 3 months now. Oh, another goal is to lose at least 5 kilos :)

I'm really looking forward to our summer holidays. I know it's too early but we have already been making plans to go to Denmark (we live in Sweden) so that's exciting since we were there last summer as well while I was pregnant with our son.

I wish an amazing 2016 for everyone.
  • @morgy23 - Welcome!

  • @morgy23 welcome! my husband has family in Sweden, so we're there at least once a year. Do you give your LO valling?
  • Last week was great - we went to see family and friends in CT. This week is crazy busy at work, though!

QOTW: I hope LO starts sleeping through the night consistently in Q1 of 2016. He's waking up 2-3 times now, occasionally once. Twice is fine, but three times is pretty tiring!  As for the rest of 2016, I'm just looking forward to sneaking as many moments with LO as possible. He is growing too quickly!!
  • @jerseygirl227 I'm glad you had a nice time with all of your relatives! It sure sounded nice. Sometimes you just need to have a fun break. Nothing wrong with that. :)

@mindaa 6 hours is soooo nice! Im excited to get LO a passport after adoption is complete this year.

@morgy23 welcome! I don't think your LO is giving up bf. I love the book the wonder weeks. It says at certain brain development stages babies seem to be giving up the breast and at other times won't get off of it. Don't give up!

@marijaa333 sttn is a GREAT goal. I hope it's reached very soon.

We have been busy. Our house is now on the market and we have a couple of ideas but no set home to move to. Yikes!

Goals: I used to read the Bible every day. It really helped me rely on God & gave me those moments of meditation to bring things back into perspective. I hope I can get back to this routine now that both babies are sleeping pretty well. I also hope we're able to complete 2 adoptions this year!!!
  • We're progressing - only one or two wake-ups for the last three nights. The only snag is that last night, although he only woke once, he stayed awake for 2.5 hours, practicing his pre-crawling rocking moves.
  • Yikes!! Long time. This will pass. Just a development stage sounds like.

Ugh, sorry. Our LO had about one night a week where he would be up for hours.

  • Thanks @mindaa and @Knottie1442268460. It did get better after the second night. But this week we're traveling and it's worse, I'm pretty sure because he's in an unfamiliar environment...
  • Hi @marijaa333 no not yet välling but I will when It's time. I think after 6 months.
  • Thanks @Knottie1442268460 I'm doing my best. He is still refusing but it works occasionally
