Breech baby 35 weeks

So my little girl has been in breech position from i was 16 weeks. Now im 35 and tried everything from crawling on all fours, pelvic tilts to moxibustion but nothing is helping her turn. I had a normal delivary 4 years ago with my son and im so scared about the thought of having a csection this time. Really starting to feel depressed :(

Re: Breech baby 35 weeks

  • I will be 36 weeks on Friday. My Doctor told me yesterday that babies can wait to turn themselves until 39 weeks. So I wouldnt be worried about it. My little one is still head up as well.

  • I am 34 weeks today, and baby's head has been up and center since my 20-week ultrasound. My OB said the same thing as @skschnake - not to worry at all at this point.
  • Have you tried Webster at the chiropractor? It has a very high success rate. Is your doctor considering attempting an external cephalic version? There are risks and benefits to look into, but can be successful as well.

In my case with my first, the things that you listed didn't work either, along with the ECV. But the chiro did:) at 37+6 I believe.

  • I'm afraid baby is breech too. I have an U/S tomorrow to find out for sure. I am considering a version but not entirely sure because of the risks. I have heard good things about accupuncture. I won't do the Chiro. I've also heard sometimes babies will flip when the mom goes into labor.

  • there is still time for baby to turn!  my doctor gets 'concerned' during the last month, but she always tells me there are ways to get the baby to change.  One option is a version.  I hear it's A LOT of pressure, and my doctor does it with an epidural to keep mom relaxed, but she makes it sound like it's no big deal!  Fingers crossed baby turns on his/her own!!!
  • My BFF used the Webster technique too with success! it was at about 37 weeks.

  • My little girl was sideways until week 37, turned breech by week 38, and then turned head down by week 39!  I had high amniotic fluid levels, so the induced me, and overnight she turned breech again and I ended up having a c-section.  So yeah, they can turn and turn!  Just hang in there, hopefully your little one will turn soon!

So, this is basically what I was told, too and it was not the case for me.  I received the IV meds to relax the uterus, but no epidural, and it was the most painful experience of my life other than my births. My baby didn't budge at all, so that might why.  It is very quick, though.  It's not like they attempt to move the baby for hours - it was only five minutes or so for me before they decided it was not going to work. It seems like it really just depends on the mom and the baby, because for some people it is a breeze.  I just wish someone had prepared me just a little bit;)  If I had another breech baby, I would probably give it a shot again, but only after trying Webster treatment.  Because, just for full disclosure, no pain during the chiropractor visit.  She basically just massaged the round ligaments under my uterus until they loosened up enough for baby to turn and drop.  There was no cracking of my spine - what I assumed would happen until I watched some youtube videos that showed otherwise:)

Sending my thoughts your way and hoping you can deliver in the manner that you want, but know that if you need to go the C-section route for the safety of your baby, there is NO shame in it, it is NOT a failure, you WILL heal, and you will have the same perfect, beautiful baby! :)

  • Just to give some hope to ladies still waiting for their babies to turn - my LO just turned yesterday, at 36 weeks, 3 days.  Last night I felt kicks in places I hadn't ever felt them before, so I was hopeful and it was confirmed with today's ultrasound.  She's a little on the small side (still under 6 pounds), so that may have helped, but it can happen!  Now, I just hope she stays there and doesn't turn back!

She had been frank breech since week 28, so I'd been doing some cat/cow yoga poses, bouncing and stretching on the exercise ball, to try to help her turn.  Also, on Monday I saw a chiropractor for my sciatic nerve pain.  She didn't do an adjustment, but she stretched out both of my legs (especially the one that has been impacted by the sciatic nerve pain) and said it may help the baby to go head down, since it created a bit more room, pelvis wise.  So any or all of those things could've helped, but it could have just been dumb luck too.  Who knows?  Anyway, just wanted to share a baby turning head down late in pregnancy story. :)
