Pregnant after 35

Lurker Intro

Hi Ladies! I've been lurking around this board and finally decided to intro myself:
DH and I are expecting our first baby (a girl based on the panorama results) in July and we are so excited! We started trying in May of '15 and I got a positive test in Oct.
So far everything looks great with baby and everything else has been good with me so far as well. I feel extremely grateful.
I have my first OB appt tomorrow and am nervous about my weight gain (almost 20lbs)! Trying not to think about it.
I am excited that there is new content on this page due to so many TTCers getting positive tests. So thrilled for you all and sending you all positive thoughts/vibes/prayers for healthy pregnancies and babies!

Re: Lurker Intro

  • Welcome to the board.  We're trying to liven it up a bit, but not get SO overwhelming like the BMB boards.  You know what?  I gained 12 pounds in my first pregnancy (but started overweight).  I was able to easily lose the weight and my baby was healthy.  I had a friend who gained 50 pounds with her first.  She lost all the weight after and her baby was healthy.  I think some people just gain more and as long as you're taking care of yourself, that's what matters most!!  Please don't feel shamed about your weight gain while pregnant!!  (I read your check-in too).
    *** Child & current pregnancy mentioned ***

  • Yes, welcome! And I'm with @emsmama15 ! Try not to worry too much about the weight gain. With my LO, I ended gaining over 50 lbs and couldn't figure out why. I had my OB stop even telling me what my gain was because it was hard on me emotionally. In the end, so much of it was water. I lost 35 lbs in the first 2 weeks post partum. I think you can make as healthy choices as possible, but your body will still do what it wants to an extent. I hope your appointment goes well!
  • Thanks ladies,

OB told me to just watch my diet and said if I continue to gain weight rapidly they will refer me to a nutritionist. I'm pretty open to that if only for information and the learning experience.

Also had a US which was a surprise and I got to see the baby! So cool to see the heart beat and see all of her bones and her little hands!
