Here's how our long 9 weeks have gone with little Marcus...
Started out on Similac Advance in the hospital. He immediately showed signs he couldn't tolerate it. Very gassy and a lot of spit up.
Signs of painful reflux, so put on Zantac.
Switched to Similac Sensitive and did good for about a week. Started getting really gassy and had loose diapers. And not gaining weight.
Sister started pumping for him...projectile spit up with every feed!
Switched to Gerber Soothe, super gassy and very fussy, spit up got a little worse.
Zantac stopped working after a couple of weeks, so switched to Prevacid. (Wasn't told anything about it, that I needed to continue the Zantac until Prevacid started working, which made us go through about 4 days of screaming hell).
Switched to Similac Alimentum. Has been in that for over a month. Spit up has gotten way worse, very stinky gas, diapers are half dark green clay like/half loose...very strange. And spit up is pretty mucousy. But he's finally gaining a little weight.
Prevacid isn't working well so we just switched to Axid today.
Dr suggested we switch to Enfamil AR! Doesn't make sense to me to put him back on a milk based formula...I know he needs another change, but i don't agree with her suggestion. We tried thickening the Alimentum but it was still coming up quite a bit, but getting stuck in his throat due to his super mucousy spit up.
Sorry for the book! It's been a long two months!
