Anti-sex?

38+2 and everyone has sex on the list of ways to help induce... husband refuses me so now what? Frustrated. I feel like this babe is never coming!! What else can I do?

    Sex never helped my babies come out. You can try squats, going up and down stairs, nipple stimulation, lots of walking. Just suggestions from my ob.

    Yeah, sex didn't work with my first. Only thing that worked was a c section after a failed induction at 41wks 5days :(
    I am at 37wks 5days and fear this one will be late too :(

    I'm pretty sure watching some funny movies and getting some huge belly laughs in jump stated my labor

    Well sex is good for thinning the cervix bc of his semen (in theory) but it's the orgasm that triggers the contractions so really you could handle that one on your own, haha. My husband won't do it either and I'm in so much pain down there it's not going to happen for either of us so I'll be trying everything ELSE. walking, squats, exercise ball, spicy food, whatever :smiley:

    The chemical in semen that softens the cervix is similar to the chemical you get when you eat fresh pineapple. Neither will start labor, but will get your cervix in better shape once things get going.

    Midwife at my office suggested evening primrose oil. Been taking it 2 times a day by mouth and once in the vagina at night. Won't induce but will help get cervix ready for when the time comes. Also drinking red raspberry leaf tea. I'm ready for this kid to get out!!!

    I don't think anything really helps induce labor. As a book I read said (think it was The Panic Free Pregnancy), strong hormones and meds have to be given to start labor in a hospital, so eating pineapple, sex, nipple stimulation, etc. aren't gonna cut it. But I DO eat dates and drink RRL tea in case it really does help delivery when the time finally comes. Can't hurt. You still have 2 weeks to your due date - patience, my dear! I dont mind going later because that means maybe I'll have some spring weather at the end of maternity leave!

    I hear you. Waiting is fine if it doesn't matter when baby arrives but for me, because I am a VBAC hopeful with a very large baby, if he comes this week or next I get to try for my VBAC. After that I have a RCS scheduled which I would LOVE to avoid. I don't plan on anything working but why not??

    We've been having sex because my libido is the through the roof. My husband loves the pregnancy sex. I'm hoping it's still this good after pregnancy ends. Maybe you should present it to your husband like you want to have sex for pleasure not just for kick starting labor.
