Vacation/Babymoon

We typically vacation 1-2x yearly. We had previously planned on late June, however considering moving it up since suggestions say 2nd trimester is the best time. Anyone planning to vacation/babymoon, or previously done this? When/How far along? Where are you planning, or did you go? How far aware from home? Fly/Drive?

We went to France and Italy when I was 18 weeks with DS. It was pretty good, the only problem I had was that my feet got really swollen and sore walking around. Didn't happen again for my whole pregnancy, but all the walking did me in a bit.

We never had a Babymoon with DS but this time we had a trip to Denmark planned in August. Needless to say that's a little to close to my EDD so we will try to move it to July. Slightly nervous for flying across the pond in my third trimester...

We already had two trips planned before this BFP, and we will be keeping them: Hawaii in April, the Hamtpons in mid June...both are 5-6 hour flights with our daughter....so should be interesting!!!

We didn't have a big vacation this year so I'm definitely going to push DH for some kind of babymoon. He doesn't want to take any time though so that he can save all of his PTO and take a month off when I have the baby. Maybe I can bribe him into a few long weekends in the mountains instead.

We are hoping to do Hawaii the first week of April. We really wanted to do Europe this summer but that looks like it won't be happening (Family still thinks we are going though.....gulp).

How are you feeling about flying mid-June? We wanted to do Europe mid-June to early-July but I'm cautious... We are in CA so it would be a trek.

Considering an April vacation... not exactly sure where. Have considered New York, South Carolina/Georgia... any suggestions for a great April vacation spot?

When in April?

New York can still be cold in early April (or even later than that), so it'd depend on what you want to do.

South Carolina/Georgia are definitely spring in April. Early April can be really bad for allergies! But if you're looking more for coastal/beach, it's not quite warm enough in April. May is more reliable. Though cities like Charleston and Savannah are nice in April because it's before it gets hot/humid. Atlanta is nice then, too - festival season starts (look up Dogwood festival) and the weather is pretty mild, though it's allergy season then.

I'd usually recommend New Orleans for a vacation, but if you'll miss alcohol a lot that could be a bummer. Florida panhandle/Gulf side could also be lovely in April.

@mom2adoodle In my last pregnancy, my doc said up to 36 weeks was ok- I'm not really concerned...I took a trip to Hawaii last pregnancy in the end of May (so the dates will be very close to this trip in June) and it was just fine! It sucked I couldn't drink and knock myself out but oh well! Our trip will be June 11-18...it will also be within the country...I don't know about travelling internationally in 3rd trimester- I'd be too worried I'd go into labor early

DH and I had been planning on a March trip and I'm flying from El Paso to San Jose in February for PantheaCon. We haven't picked the destination for the March trip it's between Portland, OR and Augusta, GA. We have friends there we want to visit. We are saving the rest of the trips for after the baby is born, since we want to go home for Christmas and New Years so everyone can meet the baby.

We are planning to go to Memphis in early July for my sister in law's wedding where I will be 1 of 3 (7 total) pregnant bridesmaids. Husband and I are hoping to go to Mexico City at the end of July for my family reunion but we will see how I do with the trip to Memphis first.

I was told that some airlines can deny you boarding if you're 35 weeks +. I wouldn't risk it.

We went to Vegas with DS at 16 weeks and it was a lot of fun but I hated walking through the smoke in the casinos. We had wished we had gone further into the pregnancy since it seemed so long ago once the due date approached. This time I'm thinking around 24 weeks and am thinking about Bermuda, it's about 2.5 hour plane trip bs 5 for Vegas. I don't want to be too far from DS.

We definitely want to go on a baby moon/1st anniversary trip at the beginning of summer. We do travel a lot but I am not sure where we want to go. Right now we are thinking either Jackson Hole/Yellowstone versus San Francisco. We are last minute people so not much planning will be going on so we will see what happens.

@JessicaC0203 We did Yellowstone via Bozeman to West for our honeymoon last Feb and have been talking about Jackson Hole this year! It was amazing

@JessicaC0203 I am partial to San Fran myself but it is an expensive city. I went there every other weekend when I was living in Monterey to walk the Golden Gate Bridge and eat on the wharf. Depending on time of year it's beautiful and sunny, and there's tons to do! I miss it. That being said I've never been to Yellowstone or Jackson Hole or anything. I always just hopped on down to Big Sur instead.

We are going to Mexico in May! I'm MOH in a wedding down their and really hope the dress that was purchased and fits perfectly right now, still fits.

We're going to Cambodia and Vietnam in March. I'll be 12 weeks when we go. I'm really hoping all the icky symptoms will be gone by then, but if not I can always hang out in air conditioned hotels while DH explores. The flights there and back are going to be awful either way. Even if I still feel gross, I'm really excited to go!!

I'm so jealous! We went 9 years ago and loved every bit of it.

I'm hoping for a weekend beach vacation this summer! Last spring I took DS to Atlanta to visit my dad & his wife. We also went to the Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta and were shown around the area my dad lives in, which is outside Atlanta.

Was hoping to go to Disney this year, but I'm too much of a ride enthusiast to fully enjoy it without going on... so that idea is scratched. My husband has family in Virginia, so perhaps trying to get down there, or maybe just a lot of New England stay-cations!

I am graduating in May with my Master's Degree. Graduation is in Virginia. We already had planned a week and a half trip to go to Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia after graduation so I guess that will be our babymoon. We also have a family vacation planned for Disneyland in October. Good timing for this baby. I'll pass him/her off to Grandma and Grandpa and we will go on the rides

We had a trip all booked up for New Orleans with friends before I found out I was pregnant last year. Unfortunately DH was insistent on canceling it because I couldn't drink and he didn't want to drink without me. I told him it would be OK and I would hit up all of the voodoo shops around! But we didn't go. Instead we went to Boston when I was in my first trimester. It's my favorite city. It was a lot of walking so it was great exercise for me and I could handle it at that point in my pregnancy.
