newborns thyroid test

Took my newborn to her 2 week check up today. She is breastfed and gained 9 oz (yay!!). Found out today that the thyroid test they did in the hospital was abnormal. So they redid the test today. Dr told me not to worry too much because usually it's just something to do with lab work and usually comes back normal when they redo it. I'm so worried though. Anyone else went through this??

    There are a lot of false positives with those newborn screenings. The screenings are great because the catch a lot of problems early, but being just a screening, there are a lot of factors that can throw off the results. Any positives should get followed up by a diagnostic test. Don't worry yet, there is a good chance everything is fine!
