Re: ***Weekly Appointment Thread 1/4-1/17***
How did your appointment go overall? Had our A/S and then routine checkup this morning. Everything looked good and healthy at the scan. I am so happy and relieved.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Yes! Got some new pictures printed out and the baby's heartbeat was ~148!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? I asked a few things about my increasing back pain (and she said it will probably get quite a bit worse).
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not many details yet, but I will be asking more in upcoming appointments.
US or dopplar? Yes, dopplar 148 BPM
How did your appointment go? It went well until I got the dreaded, "so you've gained a bit of weight.." Wtf! I've only gained 16lbs and that includes the 5 almost immediate pounds I gained when I quit smoking!!!! I'm also still well within the "normal" BMI category. I wish I would've defended myself but I got so embarrassed I just said "I guess"
Has your provider brought up anything re: L&D? Not yet
19 weeks and 5 days!
How did your appointment go overall?
Really well. We spent almost an hour gazing at baby C! She was partying on down in there, which was nice to see as I have not been able to feel her yet due to my anterior placenta. DH looked so happy the whole time.
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds)
We had a level 2 ultrasound because I'm practically ancient (38). Baby was 12 ounces, in the 65 percentile for weight. DH said "Oh Darn... I wanted her in the 95 percentile.." and the ultrasound tech replied "I don't think you wife wants that" The doctor said she looked perfect!
We had our AS and found out we are a having a girl! She measured 13oz and everything looks good.
This will be repeat c section (#3) so no talk of L&D
How did your appointment go overall?
It went well very exciting to see LO
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) I had my A/S baby was moving all over but got some good pics--- ITS A GIRL
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? Yes I made a list this time before going in so I wouldn't forget anything !
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Yes she said she will "allow" me to go one week past delivery before inducing but I'm willing to go two to three weeks past and will refuse induction if baby is doing well... I love my OB but baby will come when baby is ready unless intervention is necessary I plan on doing an all natural birth
I did talk to the doctor about my sleeping troubles, she said its fine to sleep on my back and to take some Benadryl if it's helpful.
Just really excited that everything is looking good for our baby girl!
Anatomy Scan - Everything looks great! Healthy! Also found out I have an anterior placenta which is why I'm having a hard time feeling movement. Baby is pressed right up against my bladder which explains waking up 4 times in the middle of the night to pee lately. I don't even have an infant yet, and I can't sleep.
Asked about heat rash on my chest and told my doctor it was keeping my up all night. I'm miserable. He actually recommended I quit using caladryl and other remedies because they can further irritate it. Sigh.
The kicker?
NT Scan (~13/14 Weeks): The tech said it's still so early and to not hold her to it, but it looks like a boy. When I asked if it made it more like 60/40, she said no more like 70/30 percent chance. We still kept calling the baby an it since we weren't sure. It was fun to have a guess though.
Boutique Scan (15 Weeks): I know these are controversial, but we went to visit my family for Thanksgiving. Since my mom can't go to any of my appointments, I thought it would be fun to surprise her with an ultrasound and to have her listen to the heartbeat. At 15 weeks they'll also tell you sex, so we let them. It very clearly looked like a girl. We even googled 15 week female ultrasounds, and yep. Looked exactly like all of them.
Regular Appointment (17 Weeks): Our doctor told us that he can tell us the sex. He put the color of the sex in an ornament and wrapped it for us to open on Christmas. On Christmas Eve we decided to just open it since we "knew" it was a girl. Opened the box and saw blue confetti and a blue ornament. The ultrasound had my name on it with what looked like a penis, but it didn't have the typical two legs with something in between view. It was just an appendage. But hey, it was my doctor! We started crying tears of joy and amazement. We were having a boy! So like anyone would do, we posted it on FB and emailed our families.
Anatomy Scan (21 Weeks): "Do you want to know the sex?" "Oh, we already know - the doctor told us it's a boy!" "Let's take a look. He told you it was a boy?" My husband and I are both looking at the screen seeing the same exact image from the boutique scan. "This is definitely a girl." Husband - "Like 70% change a girl, could be a boy?" "Uh no, like 110%, this baby is a girl."
I give up. 19 more weeks...
How did your appointment go overall? -Amazing!
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds)
- A/S ultrasound and we found out we're having a BOY! Honestly we just wanted a healthy baby (I have been incredibly anxious this whole pregnancy but seeing the little bean relieved my fears... for now), we already have a 15 month old daughter so we are excited to have one of both.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot?
- I see my midwife in two weeks and I'm sure I'll have questions then
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet?
- not yet but I would assume those conversations are coming
How did your appointment go overall? Great. It was actually the first appointment this pregnancy when I didn't almost have a panic attack beforehand. We have lost two previous pregnancies after HB so having have good appts so far doesn't mean much to me anymore. This time I think it was different because she was so active all day before my appt.
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) Doppler yesterday. I have a follow up ultrasound next week since I went in for pain, pressure and spotting last week. With my history they are monitoring us very closely.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? This question made me realize I forgot to get my script for the breast pump! Haha. Other than that all questions were answered.
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Nope.
@missnc77 you are the second person I know now that is due in May that this has happened to. That would drive me crazy not knowing which person was right!
BFP #2: 10/8/14, EDD: 6/22/15, MC: 11/13/14 (D&C)
How did your appointment go overall? It went really well. The US tech explained everything she was measuring in detail, and said everything looks good and the measurements are within the normal ranges.
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) It was my 20 wk AS, so we got a detailed US. I will have glucose tests at my appointment next month.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? My OB is good about leading the conversation and then asking if I have any questions at the end. She almost always ends up answering any I would have had before we get to the end. I was in and out very quickly, but it didn't feel rushed and I didn't leave with any unanswered questions.
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not really anything aside from the hospital I will be delivering at (which is across the street from her practice). At the first appointment she explained that there are 4 doctors in their practice and that I would meet each of them before the end of my pregnancy. At least one of them is always on call, so I will have at least met the doctor delivering my baby, even if it doesn't happen to be her. So far, I have only met my doctor and one other, but each of the 4 have been practicing 15 years or more, and the practice has a good reputation locally, so I feel confident about it so far.
How did your appointment go overall? Baby is 'perfect'. My BP isn't, so I am being treated as if I have hypertension. Which isn't the worst thing because I will get extra screenings and ultrasounds.
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) Doppler. Glusose test on 2/8- time to detox the sugar from my system!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? I just asked about kick counts and if I need to start keeping tabs. It is still too early, which is good, because they are still so few and far between I would probably forget about it!
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not really. She is receptive of my questions I have had (ie, "natural" birth, delayed cord clamping) but doesnt seem to bring up any of this on her own. I feel like that might be standard with a hospital birth though?
How far along are you? 23w4d
How did your appointment go overall? Pretty quick and simple. I had to wait awhile, though.
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) Always Doppler! 150 a minute. I was anxious to hear my BP because it was high at my dentist appointment, but it was a nice and low 90/70. Guess my dentist's cuff thing was a little off. I'll do the glucose text next time.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? I mentioned I had sciatica, but they didn't say anything about it. I know it's normal.
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? Not yet.
How did your appointment go overall? Awesome! Once we finally got called back. (see rant in UO)
Any ultrasound or doppler? New tests? (Glucose tests, bloodwork, level 2 ultrasounds) 20w A/S. Got to see my baby girl and it was amazing. This was the first time H heard the HB and he grabbed my hand when he heard it (happy tear). She is measuring within all normal ranges and has the longest legs.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Was there anything you wanted to bring up but forgot? No, everything was explained in detail.
Has your provider brought up anything about labor or delivery yet? No, this was a specialist office that performs the better U/S so not my regular OB.
