Does anybody have any stories about your water breaking???

I was in early labor at home/out running errands for about 6 (easy) hours before I transitioned to active labor. It was about midnight so DH and I decided to try to get a little sleep (I could sleep between contractions). About 30min after laying in bed (on a thick towel thank goodness), I heard a pop, knew exactly what it was so I started rolling out of bed and felt a gush. Went to L&D and was holding my baby just about 3 hours later.

Worst part was they had a new resident attending to me in triage and she claimed my water never broke. She wanted to send me home because I was only 3cm. Good thing my doula spoke up because I had my DD about 2hrs later (went from a 3 to 10 in about an hour and 1/2hr of pushing).

I woke up at 6am when I was 41+1 with contractions. They where far apart so I just stayed in bed and thought about what was going to happen that day. At 7am I felt a gush between the legs so I got up and rushed to the bathroom where I proceeded to spend about 30 min in the bathtub, showering my lower body. We called L&D and they told us to come in so they could check that everything was OK, but I expected that they'd send us home to labor. At the hospital, my mucus plug came out.
Since they had trouble finding DDs heartbeat they wanted us to stay in the hospital for monitoring and once contractions became more regular and intense they admitted me. DD was born at 11:35pm that same day.

About 3 days after getting my membranes stripped my water started leaking. At first I thought I just peed myself a little but it happened again about 10 minutes later. Went to L&D and it was definitely my water so they broke the rest and I was in labor.

My water broke at 2:30am with my first. I had two intense contractions 5 minutes apart, then felt a pop followed by a gush. I had been having inconsistent contractions for a solid week before. After showering and packing a bag I went to the hospital, but was only at 1cm. They were going to send me home because it was only a partial rupture, but my contractions picked up in triage to every 3 minutes and 2 minutes long.

I wasn't dilating so they fully broke my water after my epidural around 10am. I was fully dilated around noon and baby was born at 4:21PM...it was a long 4 hours as my epidural had worn off.

With my second they broke my water after I was in labor because I stalled at 8cm. I arrived at the hospital already at 7cm with contractions 3 minutes apart around 5am (I slept through most of labor!). Baby was born at 10:21am after only 20 minuets of pushing. Life was much easier the second time around! I'm hoping baby 3 will be like baby2.

I'd been in labor since around 7pm the day before. I labored at home all night and the next day until about 3pm when I felt like I peed my pants. Went into the bathroom and a whole bunch of fluid had soaked my underwear and pants. I still wasn't sure what had happened because it wasn't a continuous gush or trickle. Just one big gush then it stopped. I went to the hospital and had my daughter that night. Turns out my water had partially broken but then my daughter's head blocked blocked the rest lol

DS: My water broke at 3 am and woke me from a dead sleep. It felt like a bubble in my vagina popped (if that makes sense). I jumped up and a big gush came out. Nothing got on the bed but I was leaking all over the bathroom floor. I knew what it was but I kept doubting myself like I could possibly be continuously peeing my pants. I leaked and leaked in the car, in the hospital, it seemed never ending (probably more dramatic in my mind). They ended up putting me on pitocin because I wasn't feeling contractions. DS was born at 2:25 pm. If I could do it over, I would have eaten something on the ride to the hospital. With everything going on I didn't eat until like 8 pm and I was STARVING!

DD: My water broke around 3 pm while my mother, H and I were eating lunch at a deli. I was literally sitting at the table and just jumped up and ran outside to the car as to not leak all over their establishment. Similar to DS, I leaked everywhere for hours. I started feeling contractions around 5 and she was born at 8:15 pm.

I'm really worried about it breaking at work this time. I teach 4th grade... could you imagine? I'm starting my leave a week and a half before my due date. DS and DD were 5 days early.

My water broke at 40+2, after about 6 hours of early labor. Contractions started around 8:30pm and were totally manageable, though uncomfortable. I went to bed around 11 so I could try and sleep. I dozed off and in and between contractions, but there was soooo much pressure in my lower back, I couldn't get comfortable. I went to the bathroom and laid back in bed around 2am. As soon as I settled, I heard and felt a big POP and contractions were immediately so much worse after that. I don't remember much fluid leaking at that point or on the way to the hospital, but I gushed everywhere in the registration office. DD was born about 6 hrs later, so a total of 12 hrs of labor.

I had gotten up to pee, went back to bed, and continued to pee the bed. I thought it was just a new "wonderful" pg symptom but when I sat up I got a whoosh of fluid. I knew then that it was not pee. I wrapped a towel sumo wrestler style around me and waddled to the bottom of the stairs to tell DH (who was playing video games) who once the reality sank in was like a panicked bull in a china shop as I stood in the middle of the kitchen wrapped in a towel with no idea how I was going to put pants on (DD was breech so I continued to have a flow until I gave birth). I was 6 days from my due date.

I was induced with ripening gel because my BP spiked between my 4pm dr appointment and 7pm when I went to emerg. I was given the gel the next day after spending the night in the hospital. Went home for a bit. Early labour. Went in. After a while (not sure - it was only 5 hours from when I went in until DS was born. Pushed 11 minutes) the dr broke my water. If the dr was there, it was getting close to pushing time. Don't remember too well, pain and all. That hurt more than the contractions. It was the only time I dropped (screamed) an f bomb.

DH kept telling me how he couldn't figure out how it hurt so much, it's just a membrane he ruptured. I don't care. It hurt like a son of a bitch.

I worked full time with all of my pregnancies. .. but with my first.... I felt like crap and couldn't put my finger on why. So .... I worked all day seeing patients and find ally went to my ob before he closed. He checked the baby via ultrasound and my cervix was closed up tight. .. thick. .. long... everything great. Mind you.... I was only 35w3d... first baby. He said to me... it will be about 2-3 more weeks... go home and take a hot bath.... and go to bed. OK I said
I slept great and woke up the next morning and when I stood up out of bed.... POP! water broke! 5 short easy hours later I was holding my baby boy. I was only at hospital about 2 hours before he was born because I really wasn't hurting. By the time I got there... there was no stopping it

I started having contractions at about 6 pm, and went to the birth center at 3am and was at 5 cm, water still intact. My water finally broke at about 9:30 am while I was laboring in the jacuzzi tub. I didn't even feel it happen, the midwife pointed out that there was residue in the tub (the lights were low) and said my water must have broken. It turned out baby had passed meconium, and I was treated to a poo bath! DD was born at 1:50 that afternoon.

ETA: I was 8 days past my EDD

My water broke at 36+1 at 11 pm while I was walking home from parking my car with my husband. I had a really sudden sharp pain, and then a gush of water all over my feet. I sat down, breathed through it, and when I stood it happened again. I had three more contractions/gushes by the time I got home. I was 5cm dialated when I made it to the hospital.

I woke up around 1 am thinking I had to go pee. Stood up out of bed and gooosh. A flood of water. I shook my husband awake and he asked me "are you sure you didn't pee yourself?" Lol men. Definitely sure! Soaked through tons of pads and finally was loaded into the car. I was shaking so bad I could barely walk. Contractions finally started about an hour later but we went to hospital right away bcz I hadn't felt baby moving. Then I had my baby at 10, so not very long after!

My water broke in a restaurant! It was the first sign of labor and I had no contractions before hand. We had just finished eating (pho) and as I stood up to leave there was a dropping feeling and then big gush.

I woke up at 2:30 am soaking wet. I told my husband that I thought my water broke but I wasn't sure. I thought maybe I peed myself. I went to the bathroom and peed so I knew it was my water. We went to the hospital immediately and our son was born at 2:30 that afternoon.

I woke up around 1:30 and felt some wetness in my underwear. I went to the bathroom to check it out and my underwear was soaked. I thought " Hmmm, either my water broke or I wet myself." So I emptied my bladder,changed into a dry pair of undies and figured I would check again in 10 to 15 minutes. Sure enough, as soon as I was upright my underwear was soaked again. That was when I knew. So I changed again and woke up my husband to tell him we had to go to the hospital and to help me get the kids ready. On our way to the hospital I sat on 4 folded up towels to protect the upholstery. I remember getting out of our van and seeing a nice little trail from our parking spot to the maternity welcome center.

My mucus plug had fallen out the day before my DD's due date May 12..mothers day! Well that following Tuesday night we were grocery shopping and I felt like I kind of peed not enough to notice outside the pants but enough I was ready to go...made it to the house and it had gone through to my pants! Being a new mom I assumed my "water breaking" was a huge gush (like in the movies) and just put a panty liner on and moved on! That night I peed a million times..again not thinking anything about it because it was just a little trickle! Had a doctor's appointment that next day Wednesday May 15th and made my nanna drive me because I felt different that day...still no contractions!

Made the 35 minute drive to the hospital, got out and my pants felt damp..not wet just damp! Went back for my vitals and when I stood up there was the gush...in the waiting room in front of everyone and their husbands and they just clapped!! At the time I was super embarrassed but apparently they all knew it was my water and not pee!! They had to test the liquid to confirm and once I told them it had been consistently leaking since about 8 the night before they admitted me (only dilated to a 2 at this point) and put me on an antibiotic due to it being technically broken for a while! Once the Pitocin and something else kicked in I was in labor for a full 6.5 hours and had her pretty little self at 4:12 May 16!! 7lbs 15 oz 19 3/4 in!! Best pain of my life!!!

With my first i was 38 weeks on the computer when i suddenly my underwear was wet went tk the bathroom peed and then changed my clothes
walked out of my room abd it happened again i just thoight to myself yhere is no way in hell i peed my self twice in a row went to the hospital with no contractions but 7cm dilated needless to say a short hour later i was holding my baby......my second they broke my water .....my third at 39 1/2 weeks it started with i thought was ibs pains or food poisoning went to the hospital and as soon as i stepped on labor abd delivery i ran to the trash can bent to over to get sick when my water exploded every where and had my daughter 20 mins later .....now on baby #4 due in 1 week cant wait to see how things unravel

#1 water broke in bed as I was getting up to pee. No contractions prior to that. 40w. Holding my baby about 6h later (epi slowed my labor way down)
#2 AROM at 40w induction was not dilated when I went in, but baby in just less than 6h again
#3 water broke as I was getting back into bed after peeing. No contractions prior to that. 41w. Holding my baby 3h later (no meds that time)

Was sitting on the couch, felt a pop like a long rubber band snapping from the top of my bump to the bottom of it, so I jumped up and stepped away from the couch. Gushed. Waited at home for contractions that never came, so went to the hospital about 1 1/2 hours later.

They told me they couldn't find any amnio fluid so it probably wasn't my water. But they said, "You have a really good story so we're going to go ahead and admit you for now."

2 hours later, he was here. ha.
