Baby switching positions?

Just wondering if your LO is still switching positions , or if s/he stays in the same spot?

Re: Baby switching positions?

  • This little girl has stayed in the exact same spot for weeks , except for one day where she flipped, then switched right back to where she was.
She is head down with her back to my right side. Her butt is all up in my lungs and ribs. Her feet, knees & hands all on my left side.

  • Baby had been staying on the right side for at least the last month, but all of a sudden we moved to the left. 36w3d. 1 cm dilated but baby still high and staying put.
  • Baby has been head down with his back on my left and feet to the right this entire time up until 2 days ago--he flipped (still head down), but all of a sudden his feet are on the left.

  • Mine has been head down for as long as I remember but she does turn side to side. Most of the time she's in optimal birth position, back to my left and feet to my right. But very rarely she will turn her back to my right and put her feet to my left. But since she's been engaged she has stayed with her feet to my right.

Interesting @babybluu I had no idea there was an optimal birth position! I wish her back was on my left, I know that is the best position to sleep in for oxygenation and whatnot. But I'm more comfortable with sleeping on my right side due to the fact that she always pushes up with her feet when I'm laying on my left, that shit hurts. Also I feel like I'm squishing her laying on my left.

  • Her back and butt have been on my left and feet on my right for a good while now. I've been most comfortable sleeping on my right side for my whole pregnancy, until the last couple nights. Now my right hip and back hurt!

  • @SaguaroBlossmom it's considered ideal position because as baby descends down during labor/birth they turn in a clockwise position, meaning the soft part of her head, being her face is against your spine and tail bone. If she was facing the left side and she turned clockwise, the back of her head would be pressing on your spine and tailbone, she would be "sunny side up" and that can/will produce back labor.
  • Our LO has been frank breech, hanging out to the left of my belly button since week 28 (possibly earlier, that's when they first mentioned it.)  I keep doing exercises to encourage movement, and I even went to the chiropractor yesterday to help things along, but based on her hiccup location, I think she's still in the same spot.  We'll have an ultrasound to confirm this Thursday, when I'll be 36 weeks + 4, and discuss options.  I still hope she moves on her own, but I'm starting to research the other possibilities at this point.

Little stinker! Hope she switches for you, had a friend that did everything and ended up flipping a couple days before the birth. Good luck!

  • I have no idea what position he's in other than head down (according to OB). I feel movement all over, total octopus meme here.

  • You guys are amazing to me.  I have no idea where any part of her is or how she is positioned.  I think her butt is on my right side but I am really not sure.

I only know because I asked my doctor to feel a couple weeks ago and he told me. Honestly I didn't believe him until getting an u/s the other day haha!

  • I was breech a couple weeks ago but am now pretty positive she's head down. However, the stinker loves to go slightly transverse and have her head on my left. I think she's still head down because of hiccups and big vs little flutterings. I have a US tomorrow at 36+4 so I'm hoping for a good positions. I've also been trying some spinning babies techniques but I have awful heartburn so I'm a bit limited in what I can do.

3rd baby here so it might be easier for me to figure out, But, I think once baby decided on a position, she has literally been in the same spot since at least 33 weeks. It's easy to tell. I always see a foot/ ankle or knee go across my left side. All my right side is solid so I know that's her back. And then there are those lovely lightning crotch punches that she throws in there. Also look for practice breathing, I always see it on my right side.

  • My LO has been on the right the whole time. Head down. My first was in the same position the entire pregnancy that is was aware as well.
  • @maureenmce my baby girl is frank breech and has been on my left side for (what seems like) forever, too!  She hadn't flipped at my 36 week appointment so I went in yesterday (at 37+4) for an ECV.  After 20 rather uncomfortable minutes, the doc determined that she wasn't going anywhere.  I have a c-section scheduled for the 18th!

I had an ECV today to try to turn the baby but after 2 intense attempts and my blood pressure going dangerously low, the doctor had to stop the procedure. Have a section scheduled for the 15th. Still holding out hope that baby willl turn but it is doubtful.
