Lightest AF ever, temping to confirm?

Can you temp to confirm if your period came? I know that's strange and I read back through TCOYF and couldn't find anything. The search box on here just kept bringing me posts about confirming O.

Tuesday late in the evening, I had enough blood to fill my liner and spill over a bit, after having 2 brown spots the day before, and two brown spots yesterday. I'm wondering if that's AF? After I had my IUD removed my periods became considerably lighter. But this is nothing I've ever seen before. My temps, however, have been dropping steadily since Monday, like they would in a normal cycle for me. They've been pretty high the last 2 weeks since I started temping again, and MC was about 7 weeks ago.

Am I crazy to think it might be AF? I want to be off the bench so badly - but I don't want false hope either. I called my doc but she's out for the week and I won't get a call back until Monday at the earliest. Anyone else go through this or have a similar experience?

I don't know how helpful this will be, as I had an ectopic pregnancy and not a miscarriage, but after I got treated with methotrexate I bled lightly for 3 weeks and my temps were super wonky. Then I stopped bleeding for 2 days and then my period started (this was around the time my HCG dropped to zero). After that, my temps were more normal, and in the low range that they were typically in post-AF. The next cycle for me was pretty consistent with my previous cycles pre-pregnancy, but with a slightly shorter LP.

I would think that your temps dropping signifies that your body is probably no longer producing progestrone and/or HCG (which I believe is what keeps the temps up) and therefore would be correlated with starting a new cycle. But I'm not sure.

Thanks. My doc called me from HOME when she found out I left a message at the clinic. She's really fantastic. She said the same thing - if my temps are dropping, though it was incredibly light, treat it like a normal period.

Previously my temps have been really high, but with the steady decline I think it gives me hope my cycle is regulating. Guess I will find out if I ovulate next week or soon after, like in pre-pregnancy cycles.

Hey @FireinWonderland - Sorry for bringing up an old post, but I'm going through this right now and looking for answers. My MC at 5 weeks was a little over four weeks ago. On Sunday I had one day of spotting, then Monday was one day of a light flow, and now another day of spotting. The timing makes sense for AF, because I'm pretty sure I O'ed about 15 days ago, but it is sooooo light.

Sorry to get up in your business, but I'm just curious... did you ever get more of an AF later? When did you O after this weird light AF? What did you count as your LMP? I know you are pg now, so congrats on that! I was starting to already feel out this cycle (even though it hasn't even begun), but then I found this. Any advice for figuring out this wonky light AF?

I am having the same issue and this is my second AF after mc. Timing correlates also with AF, but the flow is nothing!
I was able to get pregnant with this wonky AF last time, although it ended in mmc that was unrelated to short menstrual cycle.

So after that weird super light AF (it was on a Monday), later that week on Saturday I had a normal flowing AF, it started in the afternoon and it lasted for 2.5 days. I used my temps to confirm that my estrogen levels were rising then started using OPKs about a week later every other day so I could see if my fertile window actually was coming around. No need to apologize, @strickland8052!

I counted that Saturday as my LMP date, 12/5. I ended up ovulating on CD 18, 12/22. I hope that helps you!!!

Thanks @FireInWonderland - That is very helpful! Sounds like it could be a longer (than I expected) time before I O again. This is what I need to have more realistic expectations!

I was really impatient and it definitely didn't help, but it seems to have turned out alright for now. Just take each day at a time and don't rush your body. FX for you that you O soon and everything turns out alright for you, too!
