6 weeks and bleeding

Bfp 12/26 with spotting that was brown and turned to red now almost a light period. Should be 6 weeks today. Hcg 51 and pro 8.2 12/29 and they put me on 200mg progesterone 12/29. They haven't tested me again and I am having panic attacks that I have miscarried. I had some cramping for a few days but it stopped 1/1. I don't see the doctor until 1/12 and I might have a nervous breakdown before then. I took another pregnantcy test today and it still said 1-2 weeks pregnant so I'm worried my levels aren't going up. Any advice?

Re: 6 weeks and bleeding

  • I have read that bleeding in the first tri can be very normal.  Any chance you can get into see the doctor before your 1/12 appointment--even if just for bloodwork--to give you more info and help you feel better?  I know the waiting is terrible.  Did you POAS today that says it is measuring HCG levels, and that's why it's saying 1-2 weeks pregnant?  I was not aware that urine tests were quantitative (maybe others will disagree?), so I would not worry too much that it still says 1-2 weeks because that just doesn't seem like it would be so reliable to tell you anything other than positive or negative.

  • What do the directions on your pregnancy test say? Some give you the estimated time that has passed since implantation. As for the bleeding. I'd call your doctor again and alert them that brown spotting is now red. Spotting can be a minor problem for some women and a cause for concern in others. Only your doctor can tell you which one is your case. Brown spotting is old blood and not a cause for concern. Red blood can be caused by SCH or other problems. Please contact your doc no one else's experience has any bearing on your result.

  • I would highly recommend giving your doctor a call and expressing your concerns.

That said, I bled pretty heavily with my first pregnancy (period-like bleeding), and he's two now. But please call your doctor.

  • It can be normal but isn't always. I would insist on seeing a doctor.
  • There is nothing a doctor can do for you if you are miscarrying except follow your HCG down to 0. I would call and ask for another blood draw to check levels. There's no reason to physically see the doctor before checking the levels though. Especially since you aren't that far along. They won't be able to see anything any way.
