Belly sleeper waking up wet

I looked through and didn't see anyone else post about this! Ever since LO started sleeping on his belly he wakes up in the morning with pee coming out the top of his diaper soaked! We use night time diapers and have gone up a size and switched from pampers baby dry to huggies overnights with no change! Anyone else having this problem? Ive asked my girlfriends but they all have girls and haven't had this happen.

Re: Belly sleeper waking up wet

  • Lo leaks out of every diaper we try. I think its because he moves around at night and not the diaper. I wish someone had an answer because I sure need help too!

  • I use these with my almost 3yo belly sleeper. You can put them right up front where all the pee goes and it really helps.

  • You've already tried all of my tricks. Going up a size has cut it to one pee-thru a week, but we're still too small for nighttime diapers. Do you know if your LO pees immediately in a dry diaper? You could try changing him 30 min before bed and then again right before you put him down. It might save you a little. Are you still feeding at night?
  • @ChardeeMacDennis thanks! I just bought and will give those a try!
@Sammy K I change him about 30 mins before he goes to sleep, and always check right before I put him down and is usually dry! no he doesn't feed in the motn anymore so he sleeps about 10 hrs straight.

It doesn't seem to be waking him any earlier being wet but he feels extra cold, poor guy!
  • Good luck! We have a similar issue with my girl leaking up her back. We have found some success with huggies overnight and making sure they are on tightly! But I think you might need to try the pee pad things mentioned above if that's not enough!
  • Do those work in the back?! I needed those a month ago!
  • This was my twins last month, I went out and bought the extra absorbency pampers and we haven't had a leak since.
  • My girl sleeps on her belly and not every morning but some mornings she has leaked up the top like you are saying. I have noticed if she has a bottle to help her go to sleep it especially happens. But she didn't have one lastnight and she peed through this morning. It's weird, I try to feed her around 5-6 and then change her diaper and bed by 7:30-8 and that usually cuts down on the peeing. She had alot of water yesterday so that may have contributed
  • I am having the same issue with my boy... almost every morning when he wakes he has a little dampness.  We are using Huggies little movers, I will look into the overnights next.
  • If I don't change him for MOTN feeds it happens to us. I used a huggies overnight diaper that worked well but he broke out in a rash from it. I'm hoping that when he starts sleeping through the night he won't be peeing as much and I won't have the issue anymore!
  • Yes please! Interesting if this works!
  • This was happening with my twins and we eliminated a bottle before bed which my pediatrician recommended anyway. Iy took my girls a little bit to get use to not having a bottle before bed but no more leaky diapers and they are still STTN with out it.
  • @swiebe Ive been doing the diaper backwards for the last several nights and he has woken up dry every morning!
  • @foxa319 woot! Time to try this tonight!
  • Ugh, tried the backwards diaper tonight and he just woke up wet, didn't even make it 4 hours. I think we are going to try the overnights next. I think my kid just pees a lot.
  • @swiebe ugh that sucks! Maybe go up a size and overnight diapers?
  • @swiebe We've had good luck up sizing and using a diaper booster pad.
  • I got the overnights to try out tonight. If that doesn't work I'll def try to go up a size. Part of the problem is probably that he drinks a bottle be nurses pretty much right before he is out for the night. thanks for the recommendations!
  • We use the overnights and a size up. Seems to work pretty well.
