Abdomend, c section support belt - sizing??

I have my C section delivery next week and in preparation I've just purchased the Adbomend C section support belt.  As I'm on the cusp for sizes small and medium, I wanted to purchase the small, however the retail assistant was adamant that I size up (purchase the medium, which I did). When I discussed with my midwife she recommended that I size down, as I will be getting smaller not bigger, it needs to be tight and pre pregnancy I'm a size 8/10.  Now I'm confused, as it's an expensive item I want to ensure that I get to wear it for up to 12-16 weeks and not have to purchase another belt in 3-4 weeks time when I've lost more weight.  If you've used/using any type of C section support belt can you please suggest what I should do.  I'm looking to exchange it tomorrow morning.

    My hospital gave me one both times I had a c-section. I would call your hospital and see if they give you one.

    Thanks @Monilee1017 I did ask the hospital and they supply a bandage type strap, however it's not as tight or comfortable as a compression belt.
