  • I'll be right with you girl! Just scheduled my induction to start tomorrow night!

  • A lot depends on what your cervix is currently doing.

For instance, w/ DS, I was induced at 40 weeks but was only 2 cm so I was brought in at 7pm to have Cervadil inserted and started my induction that way. I started contractions about 3 am and then they took it out and started pitocin.  DS was born at 3:30 pm.  W/ DD, I was already 3-4 so they had me come in the morning around 7am, started my epidural and then started pitocin.  DD was born at 3:45 pm.

    Both went very smooth!

Good luck to you both! :)

  • I am going in tonight to start mine, I have no advice as I feel very unprepared with no idea what I'm doing but hope things go smoothly for us all :)
  • I was induced on Friday. My advice is to be ready for a long process. After 24 hours on cervadil, I was sent home for not making enough progress and I'm going back tonight to finish the induction. Each induction is different, but I would take some playing cards, books to read, etc., to keep yourself busy. Induction can take a few days depending on what medication your doctor uses. Wishing you a smooth labor!

Don't be nervous. It just means babe will be here soon. Just be prepared for a long process if you aren't dilated. Good luck @mjfan83

  • I asked to be induced with with second and third baby. I was already past my EDD with both and only 1cm. I was given pitocin. Only in labor give or take 2 hours with each baby. It wasn't a horrible experience at all. But it really depends on your body. Good luck.
  • Thank you girls for all the ADVICE. The last time my Dr checked me for dialation. He said I was a finger too and 80% effaced. This is my 5th baby. So I really do hope it goes by fast lol.
  • I was told by my doctor that I had to wait until I was 41+ to even be scheduled for induction... I'm due on Tuesday and was hoping to be induced then. I've been 1cm for weeks and my cervix is still very thick and long, doesn't look like I'm progressing at all. This is my second baby, my first I went into labor at 38 weeks.
  • @canatian86 I'm the same way my dr won't even discuss induction until my 40 week appt and he prefers to wait until 41 weeks unless there's a medical reason. I'm just 38 weeks so I'm praying I'll do it in my own at some point in the next 2 weeks.
  • I'm really surprised at all of the early inductions on here! I've been induced twice before, for medical reasons and being overdue. While smooth, I'd much rather go into labor on my own this time. Fingers crossed!
