Sex after a CS?

So it has been 4 weeks since the CS, I'm aware the normal wait period is 6 weeks before having sex again. However I read that some people suggest to have sex prior to your 6 week check up so you can discuss any issues that may arise. What are people's thoughts on this?

I did have an amazingly easy CS and was back to normal by the time I left hospital 3 days after (stopped taking pain meds on the second night in hospital).

Re: Sex after a CS?

  • I would definitely wait. DH has been begging for it (apparently I'm more sexy now with my tiger stripes, flabby skin and exhausted eyes because he sees me as the mother of his children) but everything we've read says to wait until you're checked out.
My ob requires a 2 week incision check with a RN and she strongly warned me about anything entering my vagina, especially sex related.

  • I made it to 4.5 weeks and then I did it. I had an easy recovery from my c-section too. I made sure I used a condom though since I'm not on BC and because I didn't want anything swimming up there, LOL!!! My 6 week check up is on Tuesday so I should be good after that... I would have probably done it a few more times but my period already came back!
  • I had a c section and My OB was very adamant about no sex and nothing being up there for 6 weeks due to risk of infection just like with a vaginal birth since an open wound is left when the placenta is removed
  • I'm 2 wks pp & I'm up for it - like pp said w/ a condom so we're not risking infection. I haven't actually done it yet but it's def on my radar & I'm thrilled bc after ds I was so not interested!
  • My doctor was pretty serious about nothing going in until my next pp appt - I'll be 5 weeks pp at that point.
  • I did it at 2 weeks pp was nothing energetic or ambitious but had no problem. Out of intrested why the 6 week wait?
