I thought it was interesting that the average for first and second births is the same, but that it drops for third births. People keep telling me first babies are always late, but that doesn't seem to be true...
@14rk - I saw that study too, this is why I discounted the part about 39+5 being the average --- FTMs who go early might go between like 28 weeks and 39+ weeks (big range) whereas most FTMs that go late will be forced to have baby by their doctors by 41 or 42 weeks - so having the more extreme numbers on the end of the early spectrum would throw off the average. I think that's right - but I have 0 math skills.
I read the other day that the average time to birth is 40 weeks, 5 days from last menstrual period and/or 38 weeks, 2 days from your ovulation with the latter being more accurate to your body. So if you know when you ovulated you can get a good estimate of who you will give birth as 50% of women in the study gave birth by 38 + 2 from ovulation. For me that would be a week before my due date, so fingers crossed. https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-on-inducing-labor-for-going-past-your-due-date/

so interesting! love the info on vbac. thanks for sharing!!
DD1 was a late scheduled c-section (due to her suspected size... ended up being 9 lbs 2 oz) on 6/9/14 at 40 weeks exactly. DD2 will also be a scheduled c-section (but I've known that from the beginning due to it only being 19 months after the first... not sufficient healing time for my doctor to attempt vbac... also she'll probably be big as well) on 1/19/16 at exactly 39 weeks.
No.2 39+0 induced (waters broke but no contractions)
No.3 40+11 induced (no signs of labour)
No.4 Currently 36+6 with and highly expect to be induced but had a lot of pain and discomfort do here's hoping I'll get an early natural birth this time.
My first was late at 41 + 2 (I woke up that morning and walked several miles really quickly and went home, took a nap, and woke up in labor). My second was 38w, a bigger baby at 8lbs 6oz, so don't know if that had anything to do with it, my water broke with him. My third is not here yet and I am 38+1.
