Board organization - UPDATED!

Hi all! I know we're just getting started here, but I wanted to follow the lead from other BMBs (I borrowed most of this from May15) and check in about organization.

First, please use the search function. As we get more people and more threads, there are sure to be duplicate posts. For easy to answer questions, the search box will be your friend. It's on the top right on desktop, bottom of the page on mobile.

For those of you that are new to TB since you got your BFP, these are standard threads to all boards. Anyone can start these threads, just please do not duplicate! Some work better if one person volunteers and I've noted those below. Feel free to volunteer!

Daily Threads: (please add date to thread title)
-Check in! (how far along, how you're feeling, baby related activities, rants/raves, questions, gtky ..... We can change this to Ticker Day updates in February if desired

Weekly Threads: these will be posted on Mondays and will run the course of the week. (please add Monday's date to thread title)
-Symptoms thread
-Weekly randoms
-Exercise/fitness check in (Usually works best if one person takes control)
-Meal planning/diet/food check in
-Moms of multiples check in (again, works best if one person volunteers and takes controls)
-PGAL check in (Usually works best if one person takes control)
-Weekly appointments

Weekday Threads: happen once a week on the same day (please add date to thread title)
-Monday Bitchfest
-Twatwaffle Tuesday!
-AW Wednesday
-Unpopular Opinion Thursday
-Flame Free Friday Confessions
***HDBD (hump day bump day) will be added Wednesday's once they're necessary!

When we get farther along, we can have stickied threads for things like:
-sex announcements
-ultrasound pictures

The overall flow of the board will be better if we can all agree to adhere to this. It will also allow for us to see important questions as they won't be buried.

Any additional thoughts on organization?

Re: Board organization - UPDATED!

  • Things I love: checklists, organization, and people who take the lead!

This is a great idea. I personally like the idea of a weekly symptoms thread and daily check-ins. Once we all agree to organization, maybe it would be a good idea to create a "Welcome to our BMB" thread with this info and get it stickied?

  • Sounds good! So will the daily check-in become "ticker change" day?

  • @Sarafuss I've seen a lot of confusion on the ticket change posts (people posting on the wrong days lol) from lurking other boards. I vote yay on the daily check ins but can be flexible. Sometimes it's hard to wait a week for a ticker change to post!

Ok! I don't really mind either way. For the most part I don't feel like I have anything new to check-in for everyday but I could see that sometimes you want to share before your ticker change day. I just like the idea of having a thread to make it easier to keep up with your due date buddies!

  • Do we need a check in thread every day? That seems excessive.

This is what I was thinking. But of course if someone doesn't want to check in every day or just wants to check in when their ticker changes that's totally fine!

At this super early point, and as we're all getting to know each other, I like the idea of daily check ins. But maybe as we get farther along if it seems excessive we can switch it to ticker change?

I like this idea. We can also include links to the "introduce yourself" and EDD threads in the Welcome thread.

Not trying to be snarky or rude but you don't have to post if you don't want... Lol

I second @TheTamedShrew on waiting on the ticker threads until the board is more "complete." We aren't even at Sep 15th EDD yet!
  • What is the "ticker change"?
When you get your due date or use EDD you can create a ticker on the bump here:

    https://global.thebump.com/

Then when your ticker changes to a new week that day is your ticker day.  For example I changed from 4w 6d on Friday to 5w so I comment in the Friday Ticker Change.

I'm just suggesting maybe a weekly check in? I think that would clean up the board a bit. Once we start ticker changes obviously they will be every day.
  • I personally don't think the board is cluttered yet, and I am having an easier time GTK regular posters by checking in daily right now. That's just my opinion, but I will go with majority rules on that. Question: What ever happened to board moderators? Did the bump gods do away with that whole system?

  • Can there be a daily check in for healthy living, recipes etc? I'm fine to start it once we have all of our September mommas, but I think it's really important.

    Thanks for doing this.

And I'm curious of the Bump admin's role as well?
  • @Smallinetta I have seen boards do weekly meal planning check ins for healthy living.  Just a suggestion. I am a terrible meal planner. It's my NY resolution every year and then every year my daughters still mostly get cereal for dinner.  It's bad!

They got rid of the mods back in the most recent exodus drama (I want to say around January 2015?).

@Smallinetta the admins don't really do anything tbh. They'll remove things that violate the TOU (terms of use) if reported, but otherwise they mostly promote random crap and maybe pin some threads if we ask a bunch of times.

  • I'm in for daily check ins until the board is more full and we can then change to ticker change posts. Again, I doubt people will always follow the "ticker rules" so hey. Let's just go with the flow.

If people want, maybe there should be a weekly diet/meal planning thread and a separate weekly exercise thread? Or just combine both into a weekly thread? I think a daily thread for each of those would be overkill.

    Weekly sounds good for these
  • Idk...I prefer a daily meal plan to keep track of breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner (more to keep accountable) but that's because I'm used to a 21day fix routine. Obviously I'll only keep it up if there is a need/want. If not then weekly is fine. :)

@crispy11 cereal for dinner sounds awesome right about now...I'm constantly starving!

A weekly thread could be posted in / updated every day, all week long. It just wouldn't be seven separate threads. So people could definitely put their meal plan, etc., in there each day if they want!

  • I do think we need more board organization. We should start implementing things now like the FFFC Friday the AW Wednesday etc. and once we get all the September due dates (Feb 1 at the latest) we can start ticker changes or keep the daily check-ins. I think we should date the check-ins, too, but that's just me because I keep having trouble remembering what day it is. Lol.

  • @letyourheartbeyourguide  thanks for making the bmb intro post! laying out the ground rules "what to expect" now is a great idea.

@JennM205 I think anyone can start the daily discussions. If you remember and notice no one has started it that day, go ahead! :)
  • I would happily take the lead on posting the PGAL check-in. I posted the last one and would love to continue.
  • I'll pick up slack posting but I'm in MST and these discussions are usually posted by the time I'm awake. Lol.
