Any one know anything about this. I received my NT results and they came back good but blood showed low PAPP A levels. I haven't yet seen my OB yet but made the mistake of asking DR Google...
I believe it has something to do with the placenta. How low? Did they give you a MoM number? I know combined with a high NT measurement it's something that contributes to an increased risk of downs but since your doc didn't indicate that then it's not an issue. All this to say, don't fret
Hi there... occasional lurker here. I had very low PAPP-A my first pregnancy, and went on to have a healthy baby girl at full term. When they did the 12 week testing and the low Papp-A was found, they sent us to a genetic counselor. We elected to do another blood test (I can't remember the name) to further detect a "raised risk". We were offered CVS but declined to do any further testing. The second blood test came back without a raised risk. What it came down to for us, was more ultrasounds than average, to make sure baby was growing at a steady pace (Low Papp-A can cause low birth weight). Everything was just fine and my doctor never showed any further concern. Our daughter was born at 38 weeks weighing in at 5lbs 14oz with no complications at all. Yes, she was on the small side, but so was I (born at 5lb 4oz) and she was perfectly healthy. I just wanted to share my story with you since it can be scary. We also turned to Dr Google (and learned our lesson NOT to!) and I was so scared. But it turned out to be nothing to worry about. Good luck and I wish you a Happy and healthy pregnancy!
I also had a low Papp A level with my DS (22 months old now) and went on to have a relatively healthy pregnancy and a completely healthy full term baby (8 lbs 3 oz). The reason I said "relatively healthy" pregnancy was because I was considered high risk after I developed gestational diabetes in the third trimester and had to be monitored more closely, but that is unrelated to the placenta hormone levels from the NT screen. My Papp A levels came back within normal range with this current pregnancy.
