ok the last couple weeks LO has been throwing her hands up to her ears when she is crying or upset. we pretty much ruled out ear infection no fever no cold and she doesn't touch her ears unless she is crying. she's not fussy during the day unless she is hungry and sleeping is getting worse I figured it was the 4 month sleep regression she will be 4 months on Wednesday. every other night it's sleeping every two to four hours then waking up the next night she will sleep all night. if it gets worse definitely will go to the doctor just wanted to see if this was just a temper thing with her ears or teething

It may just be a quirky thing she does. My niece rubs her ears to soothe herself to sleep. Some babies pull on their ears when they are teething though.

My nephew also rubs his ears to soothe himself. It's funny because he did it as a baby and as a 11 year old he still rubs his ears while he is sleeping.

Our little guy is teething right now and pulls on or holds his ears while nursing. I don't know if it's because he just figured out he has ears haha or if it's related to the teething. We've ruled out ear infection as well

My baby does this, too! I took him into the dr last week after a few days of paranoia about an ear infection.

Our pediatrian's diagnosis was, "Babies are crazy!"

So, probably nothing to worry about if your LO hasn't had a cold and doesn't have a fever. He probably just discovered his ear and likes to play with them or it soothes him.

If you're like me though it's worth the co-pay to let the dr check him out so you can relax
