Pregnant after 35

Happy New Year (and intro)!!!

  • Lovely to see you here Jill! :)

I'm going to dinner with my hubby and some family.  I'll be in bed long before midnight.

Resolutions: None that I've thought of.  I'd love to get more organized before we have two kids!! :)
    *** Child & current pregnancy mentioned ***
    Me - 41 (PCOS), Hubby - 43 (healthy)
7/2013 - Sweet baby girl born (Clomid + TI)

12/2015: IVF #1 transferred two great looking embryos - BFP!
First ultrasound: TWO beautiful little heartbeats!!
Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • @jilligan14, glad to see you on this side of the boards! We're visiting family out of state and they have small kids as well, so probably won't make it anywhere near midnight! Anyway, here's to having rainbow babies in 2016!
  • Hi! It's New Years Day now, but I had a low-key night last night. Just me and DH, watching movies, eating cheese and crackers, and drinking mocktails. I went to bed at 12:05 :) We keep mentioning to each other in disbelief that this will be our last holiday as a childless couple. I spent so long thinking I would always be childless, so this is a strange feeling.

I'm not really a New Years Resolution type of girl, but I do have some pre-baby resolutions, including:
    1. Cleaning out and de-cluttering our apartment. We may move before my due date in June, and if we don't then we need to make space for baby stuff in this tiny city apartment.
    2. Budget. I've never paid as much attention to budget as I should have because we've always been lucky enough to get what we need/want (ahh, the DINK lifestyle!), but daycare costs scare me and we also don't have anything close to enough saved for retirement. We really need to reassess everything.

  • We are in Connecticut visiting H's family and went out to a fancy restaurant last night with everyone. Luckily I never drink so no one thought it was strange that I wasn't drinking! A lot of folks went straight to bed when we got back (at 9:30pm!) but H and I stayed up with his cousin's kids (ages 17-26). We watched Jurassic World then flipped to the ball dropping at midnight. Ended up staying up until 1am to finish the movie!

@redheadbride15 I feel the same, always thinking I would be childless forever. I can't really comprehend the idea that there will be a little baby in our lives next year at this time. It still blows my mind!

I'm hoping to accomplish a lot of things this year, such as finishing my novel and getting it ready for publication, buying a new car (currently we have one tiny two-door car), finishing my niece's blanket (it was supposed to be a baby blanket but it's a really complicated knitting pattern and she's turning 4 in July....sigh, life just gets so busy! I also need to do one for my nephew, who is 2 in March), and overall getting ready for baby - do we move? Make our current place work? How are we going to survive on one income after I have baby? So many things to sort out but I'm excited and can't wait to get home to get this year started. Have been traveling since December 20 and I'm so ready to sleep in my own bed!

Can't wait to see what 2016 brings us all!!! Happy New Year!!!
