Anyone else being sent for this at 24?weeks? Is it a standard thing or could they maybe see a problem?
I had the anatomy scan at 20ish weeks with the perinatal oust and all was good. I went yesterday for a cervix measurement check at the perinatalologistc and they did not indicate that anything was wrong. Yet they said I needed to come in 2 weeks (which is 24 weeks pregnant) for a growth scan.
My sister in law is due only 2 days later than me and she had her anatomy scan today and doesn't have to go back.
I would think that if something was wrong, wouldn't they have told me?
Call and ask them why you are having to go for this scan. Also, try not to compare your doctor's decisions to other people's doctor's too much bc a lot of doctor's are different in how they treat their patients. Besides, it will drive you crazy with worry.

@vanessapodunk Ugh. I know that's frustrating. Try to just think there's nothing you can do right now. If there was a major problem the doctor would not have let you walk out of the office that day.

I would definitely call and ask specifically why they are sending you for this scan.
I have a girlfriend who's cervix length consistently changed lengths throughout her pregnancy... And so they sent her for more scans after the 24 week mark to make sure her cervix was still at a good length to support baby and pregnancy. And that it was staying closed. Not sure with you (obviously call and ask to be sure) but this could be the scenario. With her it was nothing to worry about, just something they looked at often.
I had one at 30 weeks because my fundal height was measuring farther along. Turns out baby was right on track. I'm glad they are cautious, but I found it unnecessary.
Only your doctor can tell you for certain, but a growth scan is commonly ordered if the baby or the fundal height is measuring 2 weeks behind or ahead of the EDD. It's possible that they may check positioning, cervix, amniotic fluid amount, baby's size, etc. during a growth scan. For now, try to not worry. If it was a possible emergency, I can't imagine that they would make you wait.
The perinatalogist gave us an A+ at our anatomy scan and told us to come back at 28w. We had to see them earlier this week though because I was having pressure, pain, and spotting. They said everything is ok but want to see me again in two weeks just to make sure nothing changed. I have lost both of my previous pregnancies though so they are being extra cautious.
I would assume the extra scan is due to the fact that you have GD.
This - my blood pressure is slightly elevated even before pregnancy so I get growth scans starting the 3rd tri. I would ask your doctor to discuss how GD will impact your treatment, I'm surprised they didn't go through that at diagnosis. My doctor spells out our course of action so that I know what's going on and it helps to alleviate any concerns.
Just know that the growth scans help them spot any issues and it's not necessarily an indication that they've seen something particularly worrisome. It's only to help them closely monitor you and hopefully prevent an issue from occurring. The more frequently they see you the better and sooner they can manage any impacts that may be caused by GD.
I go back for a growth scan at 32 weeks. I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. I asked my best friend and she said it was but now after reading this I'm wondering if they saw something off.

@AdorkablePixie I wouldn't worry, sorry if I made you concerned! From friend's pregnancies I know a growth scan is totally normal in the 3rd tri depending on your doctor.
I was specifically referencing protocols for reoccurring growth scans every month and every week in the last month when there's a condition that can impact fetal growth rates or something that specifically needs additional monitoring (such as low fluid etc). Hope that eases some concern, but if you're still worried definitely ask your doctor.
@Bltbear82 Thank you for the clarification. I see my doctor next Monday so I think I will definitely bring it up, just to be sure. The doctor at the scan said everything was great though, so I probably shouldn't worry myself.

I got referred to a high risk clinic at 16 weeks because of an ovarian cyst. They discovered that the cyst was no issue but that baby had some choroid plexus cyst on the brain. I did assume we would have to go back for a check up...which we did and everything looked fine and dandy (still a cyst....but apparently they are normal). ANYWHO...i was surprised when they scheduled me for another ultrasound in 3-4 weeks. I thought once I was considered a "normal" pregnancy I could get out of the high risk clinic! apparently once your in your in for good! Which I really don't mind, as I get to keep seeing baby is doing well...However I would love to not be considered high risk anymore! So in your case maybe is just a case of keeping an eye on things just because thats what the specialists do! I also agree with the other people who said that if there was something wrong the doctor would have come in sat you down and explained it! They usually err on the side of caution and give you the Worst-Case Scenario.
