Babymoon ideas from NYC

Hello ladies- any ideas for a weekend gateway from NYC? We were thinking about maybe Philly? Any tips?

Re: Babymoon ideas from NYC

  • We also live in NYC! We got married at sweet water farm right outside of Philadelphia. I highly recommend it. The b&b alone is worth the trip and then you can go to Longwood Gardens, or any of the fun historical sites down there. Lots of great restaurants in the area too.

  • Ooooh also the Inn at Stonington is fun too. Super romantic & relaxing. Plus it's an easy drive to Mystic, or you can stay in Stonington and just walk down the street to any of the restaurants in the little village. So relaxing. I'm getting jealous now, I want to go! My H and I used to do lots of b&bs before our first son was born. There are tons of wineries in the area, so we used to go to do wine tasting and just relax.

  • Hi...so I'm a Philly girl...I love my city but picture more of a place in between nyc and philly as a babymoon destination...there are alot of beautiful lodges in the poconos and other mountains w relaxing spas and beautiful scenary...but not sure of what type of experience you're looking for!
  • Las Vegas!

I don't think that's very practical for someone in their third trimester...
  • I'm in the same area too, thinking either Philly, DC, or Mystic for a weekend getaway. Never been to any of these except DC as a kid since we just moved north but I'm looking forward to it. I think less touristy stuff and walking is better for the 3rd trimester and more nature, scenery, & eating :) I'm leaning towards Mystic, CT.
  • @starsinnight ... I live in CT and I wanted to respond to your post. Although I do think Mystic is cute, in my opinion there really isn't much to do there esp this time of year. The aquarium is decent but the seaport is tiny and probably too cold to check out. There are some little shops in the area but they might be only opened seasonally . It's definitely more of a warmer weather place. I would suggest maybe another destination especially if you are coming from a distance away and in cold January/Feburary. I would hate for you to drive far and find it kind of boring. I'm only mentioning something bc I would want to know. CT does have nice casinos. And maybe that would be fun for you even if you don't gamble. Lots of good dining options and spas. Not sure what you're looking for for a getaway. But have fun!
  • Thanks for the info!! I was considering DC but I think it's too much activity for me now at 32 weeks and exhausted. So at this point, just looking for a new place to rest, window shop, & eat. I didn't consider a lot of the shops may be closed. Do you recommend any other place in CT? I live 1.5 hrs from Mystic.
  • @starsinnight... I private messaged you!
  • thanks for all your suggestions :) we actually stayed by city hall in philly for a night and had a great time!  took to tour bus, went for some good food, indoor market, christmas village, took some great pictures and it was great to get away even it it was just for 2 hours away....  I'm so glad we went, I really needed to be away and spend some fun time with DH... how is everyone doing?
