Mamaroo Question

Hi ladies!!!  We received the Mamaroo as a Christmas gift.  I just set it up - super easy!  Hopefully this baby likes it as much as I do.  In reading the manual, there's an infant insert that's available for purchase.  I'm guessing I'll have to order it direct from 4moms or Amazon cause I haven't seen it at Buy Buy Baby or BRU. Anyway, my question is do any of you have the insert or are you just doing without it?  The reviews on the insert are good, but there's people that said it was backordered, so they just used their Roo w/o the insert and it was fine.  Two of my friends who also have the Mamaroo had no clue an infant insert was available and their kids still loved the Roo as infants.  Thoughts?

Re: Mamaroo Question

  • I just bought one on Craigslist that didn't come with the insert and was wondering the same thing. The woman I bought it from said she needed it in the beginning and would recommend it, so I was planning on getting it. I think it might depend on how big your baby is and mine tend to be on the smaller size.
I'm curious what other people on here will say...

  • They sell the insert at BRU. In store.
  • We have one and didn't use the insert with DS. Though we didn't have him in it much as he really preferred another swing we had.
  • The insert (or some form) is quite important when they are that little, but you don't necessarily have to shell out the money for the mamaroo one. Last baby I didn't purchase the insert and when he came I realized it wasn't going to work safely without so I used one of those infant car seat inserts with the headpiece and placed it in the swing. This time I purchased the mamaroo one even though I probably didn't need too. I do think it will be worth it though, but as long as you have something to help with head/body support for the first little while that should be good enough.

  • The one purchased from my mom group had the insert so I am excited to use it with LO from the beginning. It looks good.

  • A big cozy blanket worked just as well for us!

I never had the insert with my son. We just used a soft blanket. DS was a few weeks old when I got the swing but he was still on the smaller side. The first day I put him in it I realized that he needed something for support. We found a soft blanket and it worked great. I intended to buy the insert but the blanket worked so well I never did. This time I'm on a tighter budget and will be using the blanket again since it worked last time.

I'd say if you've got the income, the insert will be handy. If you're on a tight budget you can do without it just fine.

  • I bought an insert for mine at buy buy baby with one of their 20% off coupons. I kept it in the package with receipt in case I find I don't need it and will return it!
  • Got my insert from amazon, but that's weird that buy buy baby and BRU didn't have it, my local stores had them, and I saw them online as well..

  • I have the insert and used it for awhile (can't remember exactly how long) with DD. As someone else said, I would buy it at BBB with their 20 % off coupon if you can.
  • I received a mommaroo from my sister who had a baby last year she suggests using the insert expecially if your baby spits up a lot it helps keep there head proped up when they are so little !
  • Nordstrom and Babies R Us sells them, I registered at both places, and one was purchased for my shower.
  • Got the insert from Buy Buy Baby for 20% off with a coupon. They ordered it for me and had it shipped free to my house because there weren't any in the store. Babies R Us has them too.
  • I ended up getting the infant insert from Buy Buy Baby, I had a coupon too. I don't know if I will even need it but it's not a bad thing to have in case I have a smaller child and then it will keep her in place until she doesn't need it anymore.
