TTC after 35

A Very Happy New Year! (BFP and living child mentioned)

Well, gals. I can't believe I am typing this post. I got a BFP this morning on a clearblue digital! I am 12 or 13DPO and have just felt different this TWW, and LO has been crazy clingy/emotional. I was awake in bed for about two hours debating with myself about whether or not i would test this morning. AF was due tomorrow and I have never ever tested early. But, with the long weekend, I just decided I may as well. If it was negative, I wouldn't be too sad because it could be too early, and if it was positive, well, I'd be excited to know sooner!

So, I peed in a cup and dipped my test with LO with me. It went fast and the "pregnant" result popped up in the window. I nearly fell over with the shock! I dropped to my knees, sobbing and hugging LO, who probably thinks I am crazy. I just prayed thanks to God as I sobbed and then took a picture of the test and have been carrying it around with me.

I told DH by having LO take the test over to him when he came downstairs. He was also shocked and overjoyed. He asked if I was sure, and I just kept showing him the test and explaining that you can't get a false positive. Of course, the same question lingers for me and I'm sure I'll retest later today or tomorrow. Haha. I wish I'd kept that cup of pee!

We are all now cautiously excited. We started TTC #2 a year ago. This far into the game, we know that we're really early in this pregnancy and that things can go wrong. But I am hanging on to Philippians 4:6-7 "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Anyway. For now, I am holding on to the fact that I am pregnant today and I am praying that I remain so. I will feel better with each passing day.

Sorry for the novel. Thanks to all of you for your support. This board has been a lifeline. I'll linger here for a while and then, assuming all goes well, join a bunch of you on pregnant after 35!

Let's see lots more 2016 BFPs soon!

Also hoping I can wind down and sleep tonight! I feel so nervous and excited.
  • OH MY GOODNESS @Sporty1216!!  I'm so happy for you!  I've been hoping this would be your month! We're on a roll!!  :)

(The reason I tested before my beta was because my daughter was being a major cling-on.  Two weeks later, it's just starting to get a LITTLE better).

  • @emsmama15 --it was your story about your daughter being crazy clingy and that causing you to test before your beta that made me wonder if that was what was up with my guy. It is intense! And it's incredible that they can sense something is up. I'm glad to hear it's getting a little better with some time. :)
  • Congratulations! I'm so happy you got your BFP! Wishing you a wonderful 2016! I hope to join you soon!

  • @Jenniferk08 --I'm glad I'm not the only one! I did another test this morning and it turned a blue line in under 2 min. I have one more test...and I'm sure I'll use it! Trying to decide when I'll cut myself off. With LO, I tested one time and left it at that. Not sure why I don't have the same self-restraint this time!
  • Woo hoo! Congratulations! So happy you got the belated birthday present you hoped for.  Although what's that I see....a tumbleweed rolling through this board?! ;) Wait up, guys!

  • Haha. I think I win the crazy prize on excessive testing. I tested no fewer than 20 times. I was still POAS at 10 weeks. I didn't get an early ultrasound or any betas and I had so few 1st trimester symptoms that I needed the confirmation. I was in such disbelief. I had also bought a new giant pack of Wondfos the month of my BFP, so they were just sitting around. I stopped only after getting my MaterniT21 test results because I figured there must be a baby in there if they found Y chromosome material (it certainly isn't mine!).
